A good domain - Shall I get com org net & info ?

when you find yourself a really nice domain for your let's say future blog will it be worth getting all 4 main domain extensions?

hwo do you guys feel about that? you care if someone else has the same name with different extension?

    The only reason I'd buy more domain extensions would be if I created a company that I believe will make it across the world. .co.nz .com.au .com .co.uk etc

    If it is a big project, then YES. But if its just a niche site or a review site, it won't worth it.

    Try just .com .net and .org (only if the domain is very good as protect it)

    For the purposes of creating a niche or review site, all that isn't necessary. Just stick with one top-level domain (.com, .net, .org). A .com is the most common, looks really professional, and is the easiest for people to remember, so get one of those if you can.

    Every website registrar has a tool where we can find suggestions. For example when I tried to register a domain name santhan with all possible extensions with the registrar whoisxy.com, i found a lot of suggestions. I picked 1 and registered the same for an economical price. I did feel like you said, but i didn't care for someone has taken it.

    If you get the .com you are usually set. However if you are building a huge brand, I might get .org and .net. But don't unless it really starts taking off.

      With any of the .com/net/org you can rank well with the correct SEO. If you pick up the .com that's terrific. But a well SEO'd .net or .org will get past a poorly SEO'd .com no problem.

      So as the others have said, unless there's a really convincing reason for grabbing the others, click 'no thanks' on your GoDaddy/Hostgator etc screen.

    It depends on your current startup budget. If you have the resourses,then just purchase the .com, .net and .org... if not, then wait a couple years until you get the revenue rolling.

    Type in a keyword in your niche and see what comes up. I have noticed a change towards .com recently. I can't say for sure, but it seems to me that some of the spammy extensions (eg. .info) are getting hammered. What do others here think? Have you seen a drop off in the SERPS for your .info sites?

    The only time you should buy all the extensions is if your site is a success, or if you think your idea is unique and someone could copy it. Other than that just stick with a .com

    If you're trying to make a simple and easy long term business, just roll with the ".com". If you're trying to build your brand in everyway possible... roll with the other extensions also - and just redirect those to your main site, or host a blog or a forum on one of the other extension sites.
