It's all about Google Docs and Google!

Greetings Warriors!

Do you use Google Docs for your IM Business?

I used google Docs for our sites' details and other information. However, my client told me that "Google scrapes Google Docs and can tie all of our sites. I don't allow them to be able to de-index all of our sites at once because they don't like one of the sites."

If this would be case, then I will be hesitant to use Google Drive as well.

I prefer Google Docs because we have a checklist, this way we can edit the progress of it. He just want to use Dropbox and that's all.

Do you agree with him? I don't see the relevance at least to my own experience.

Please speak your mind about this.

All The Best,
G.B.

I have no idea what you are trying to say concerning Google de-indexing sites because of Google Doc usage or whatever, but I can answer this bit:

I do, on a limited basis. When I want to chat with a client about a piece of content in real time, Google Docs is a great platform to do it. They can point out or try to make changes that they think are relevant, and I can immediately erase them and go "No silly, we're not doing that. Here's why..."

I am not really sure where my client got that information. He told me that he is a member of many SEO forums.

      Thanks for the input, Joe.

I ran an SEO service for a short time, and plan to do so again in the future probably... one of the selling points was that I did not use any google/microsoft/yahoo products at all whatsoever... so no gmail, yahoo mail, gdocs, anything!

Do they actually take gdoc info and use it towards their search algos? Probably not, but when you are talking about people who make their entire income off SE placements, better to be safe!

Not the kind of thing to brag about on this forum, just saying.

Foolish to assume things. Plenty of us know better, and don't
Bother with Google's game at all .

I guess it depends what you're focused on. If you need to reassure clients and the only way to do it is take all precautions then do it if they really really want it.

I've never had any problems with Google Docs but tell that to a client who is convinced otherwise and you've got your work cut out for you.

Not only Google Doc but also Gmail I suspect, if you are putting your info related to your site management, seo then Google may have access to these things, who knows it may be one algorithm of several other private algorithms of Google.

I am skeptical about it but who knows?

It's smart to be skeptical, but never assume one way or the other. Google is probably doing some things that none of us know about, but there are just as many wild conspiracy theories given by people who have literally zero clue about what they're saying.

I don't personally use any of Google's services other than gmail and the search engine. I don't see any need to give Google any more info than they already scrape and mine from my use.

I don't use Google (other than the search engine). Its better to be safe than sorry.

That also means not using Chrome (Firefox is WAY better anyways).

Does Google use such data? I would say yes. They are all about learning EVERYTHING about you. Your habits, your patterns, even your thoughts.

Will they use that data against you? Who knows? But if I'm doing anything that's against Google's TOS (and that means 99% of marketers) then its better to be safe than sorry.

Google Docs - I used it previously... even to list all my domains. Now I don't. I have moved everything to DropBox and even my VAs update me via Skype (no more Google Talk) and DropBox.

Google will not do something like that. the reason is simple, if they do like that, people will not use that service anymore and in web world they will be beaten very quickly by another competitor. I have been using Google docs and found no problem yet.
