Clickbank Recurring Billing Problem (I think)

I have this membership program with about 150 members in it. The payment processing is handled through Clickbank.

And every week, I get about 3 or 4 notifications from Clickbank that a subscription has been cancelled because the subscriber's credit card on record did not process correctly.

Is that a normal number, 3 or 4 cancellations like that every week? It seems kind of big to me. I'm thinking either:

A) Clickbank has some problems processing perfectly functional cards, or

B) Lots of people out there have maxed out their credit cards.

    Hi Eduard, I have to tell you that I have experienced this as an affiliate through Clickbank a number of times, and when I phoned Clickbank customer services they told me, the problems are through the customer's payment failing not Clickbank's end. Now of course they would say that, and I have no concrete proof either way. However, it sounds logical to me that they were right as a number of buyer's are Newbies or people with little/no money hoping for quick riches and success (what i call the push button software mania).

    Equally I believe they told me, that they try again to claim the money if it fails so if the problem was their end the money should end up coming out eventually. The fact that many times this doesn't seem to happen would again lead me to feel that the issues originate from the buyer's end not Clickbank's.

    Cards expire every two years or so so it's not uncommon that a couple out of 150 would have a card expiring. Others cancel cards or reach their limit etc.... Seems pretty normal to me.

    I process monthly payment through merchant and most of my payments are 20 to 50 dollars we process alot over the years and when you do that you will learn something terrifying and that is most people are broke. Until I started selling cheap stuff online (and expensive to) but the cheap got me to realize that when they say that majority of American's retire not only broke but in debt I never believed that till now, now I know it's true. Most people are maxed out in debt and going down in income even if the number is the same for example they are making 20K 10 years ago and today then they are like making half as much (because of printing money). In any case it's sad, very sad!

    Hey Eduard, i sent you a PM also,

    The problem is that Clickbank and other 3rd party processors will have a higher "Scrub" rate on the order submits. Thus you have a higher decline rate..

    I wouldn't be too concerned that most americans are "Broke" But what i can tell you is that most people now are using Debit Cards for the payments. You will notice that you will get higher approval on or near the 1st and 15th. Thats the time most people get paid

    Now with your own Merchant account you can have more control on how high you want to "scrub" the orders.
