How many hours do you spend......

So how many hours do you spend backlinking. I spend about an hour a day manually backlinking my websites. I try to do around 20 a day. With everything thats going around lately with SEO. panda, penguin, easter bunny updates I think that manuall submission is your best form of backlinking.

I'm not trying to put the backlink service people out of business. But I wonder how many hours per day they spend to manual backlinks all their clients websites or is manuall after all..

just a thought.....

    Hey, huester.

I might only spend a half hour or so backlinking each day when I am working on a authority website. I only build links for the traffic, though. So I will be spending my time posting comments on relevant blogs and in forums. Once I get the first initial guest posts, I really don't need any more backlinking unless I am working on diversifying traffic away from search.

You really don't need nearly as many links as most people seem to think you do. That is, if you are using the right business model, and you are able to obtain a few really high-quality links.

    Hey Oliver,

I am currently making simple blog amazon sites and was taught to use directories only. I have paid one warrior to do backlinking on one site for me just so I see how it pans outs.

My backlinking does have anchor text in there but then looking at the way you do yours seems better as its targeted.

Any thoughts on the way I'm doing it.

    Thanks

Back when I was doing manual blog comments I think I spent about an hour a day for the first month or so. I don't do it anymore as I would rather not rely on Google anymore.

    Cheers,

Manual back linking is boring and time consuming, I outsource this kind of work.

You are not asking the right question (or at least not providing sufficient information to provide a worthwhile answer). Your question is like a long distance runner posing the question of how much time do you spend running to a group of olympic athletes that vary from downhill skiers to swimmers to decathaletes. The amount of time spent is irrelevant. The value of the effort produced is enormously more important.

The type of backlinking you do should be based on the purpose of the backlinking. If you are building 100 sniper sites to bring in small change per site, your approach should vary drastically from someone who is trying to establish themselves as an authority in a particular niche in order to generate affiliate leads.

One hour per day backlinking is a good measurement for one website, and if you have the time to dedicate a whole hour to SEO each and every day then good on you, this will prove to become beneficial to your rankings and traffic pretty quickly. Manual submission is definitely the way to go since the recent Google updates, I would steer clear of any automatic backlink program these days.

There is also some truth in what Kevin posted above too..

It all comes down to how you are backlinking and what sites you are posting too, as well as the quality of any written content in the backlinks. One hour is a good timeframe to measure a decent amount of effort, but you also need to understand that effort does not always translate to results, you need to be creating links which have a profound effect on your rankings.
