I have noticed some listings/websites in the SERPs that have got an image appearing beside the listing/Google search result, making it stand out in a great way.

Does anyone know how to achieve this?

Can this be done by a wordpress plugin or what?

Are you talking about pictures of people? G+ profiles will show up on Google. Also links like: "more from john doe."

G+ is a good way to get in Google's good graces, especially if you build a G+ network.
