Why People Are Using Tinyurl on their order link

It is for tracking how many people actually clicked on order button and compared that number with who actually purchased. Kind of tracking sales page copy.

But tinyurl doesn't has such tracking facility..

Then it might be due to preventing long order urls broken down in to two lines and getting 404 error for the buyer?

  The purpose of using tinyurl on the order button of this sales page is actually to protect the affiliate who promote this products.
  
  Most of the clickbank order link showing like this:
  http://1.secretsweapon.pay.clickbank.net
  
  When showing like this, people would easily know the merchant id and they will most probably replace them with their own affiliate id.
  
  If you are selling products with clickbank, you should really do this to protect your affiliates.

I know it's enticing to figure out why people would do something like that, however, I would chalk it up to their being overly-analytical or paranoid and just move on.

ps. lol, now you've got me wondering... the only reason I can come up with as to why they're using a tinyurl is so that they can sell a given product from multiple places such as signature files or reports -- easier to remember and copy/paste, etc. I've never used tinyurl as a redirect for an order link so I'm not sure if it works, or whether or not it's a violation of Paypal TOS.

It's great for tracking purposes:

Create a campaign in Google Analytics. It generates a very long URL for your website. Then you create a tiny url with tinyurl to get a tiny url.

It enables you track the performance of each article, each email, each forum post, each banner ad etc.
