    I have 44 domains.

I don't really think it's that many I know a couple people that have 100's.

    40+

Although I'm going to be getting rid of the ones that haven't converted well, so I'll probably only have around 10+ by next year.

I personally have around 30 or so domains. I know a domain investor from Australia who has 1,200 and is selling them off on flippa as he approaches his retirement. This is obviously a huge number of domains but he clearly took a risk that paid off for him. He recently sold one of them - organ.com for $41,000 and he still has many premium domains to go as i've been in contact with him about them.

It really depends what you want to do though with them. If you just want to buy with a view to holding them, then I would advise against buying many domains for purely speculation puposes. If you want to buy with a view to developing sites around, then the number depends on what you can realistically manage without overwhelming yourself.

I have about 40 domains, but the amount of domains doesn't matter, what matters is the quality, lately It's hard to find a good domain available

I have around 50. It's too many for me. If a domain costs $10, that's $500 a year! Recently I listed a bunch of them on SEDO to sell. I sold one and ended up making only $10, so I lost money. Buying domains can be an addiction. Do as I say, not as I have done. Don't just buy domains to use later, because they sound good. You may never use them. Only buy a domain when you are setting up a new site and ready to put it in use.

If your domains are making money, they are fine. Buying domains to sell is like gambling, an addiction. You may have a good sale and you may not. As I said before to make the best use of your money, only buy a domain when you need it.

    Best wishes to you,
    Carole

I've lost count on mine, but the number's way too high. It comes from a lack of understanding when I first got into IM (luckily those are expiring now as they're worthless) and also from OCD related to SOS (that's Shiny Object Syndrome for the unitiated).

Recently I've gone through and started planning and making sure that all of my domains will be able to pay for themselves, or I'm getting rid of them. Either way is fine by me.

Hi Dee, this is the only sensible approach to domain investing IMO, anything else as the above poster mentioned in my eyes is nothing less then gambling. Can you make money by playing roulette? Sure you can, can you lose money of course, what's the difference?

I know what you mean Jay, I fell into the same trap early on in my IM career. I also let the dud ones expire and sold any that may have had some worth on flippa.

I've got 19 and I let my first one go the other week. If you're not using them then there's not much point in having them. But as long as you have something worthwhile on them, then they're kind of fun to have!

I have about 70 domains and on 2 of those I have about 10 or 12 sub-domains set up on them.

Not buying any more any time soon because it is not necessary. I used to think I wanted to have 500 domains or more.

But when you know how to either buy paid traffic and / or get traffic from "free" sources like social media sites, twitter, facebook, etc. then you can make a very good income without having lots of domains and blogs.

I have a total of 47 domains. While many of them I don't currently use I have purchased them because of an inspiration for a niche site or info-product idea - I think # of domain names you have is relative. Just make sure if you buy them you put them to good use or it's money down the drain.

I have about 12 with "proper websites" on them.

And about another 18 that I'm gradually working my way round to using a bit (will mostly be 4/5 page sites).

And about another 30 that I use as redirecting gadgets.

And about another 40 as "temporary stock - for sale" because I deal in them a bit, too.

And altogether that ought to be about 100, but I think I probably have 120 really, so either my math or my memory has let me down a little, somewhere above ...

Oh yes, I know ... I have some "leftovers" from when I used to use squeeze pages, for split-testing. That accounts for the discrepancy.

I'm a bit of a domain-junkie, really, but they're a whole lot cheaper than shoes.

I own somewhere between 50-60 domains, but more than half are just sitting there. Bought several awhile back to build some niche sites, then realized I didnt want to go that route.

Really, I only have around 8 that I use as part of my business.

I've got something in the 60-70 range. I used to buy the best match every time I had a good idea. That's one of the pitfalls of being an "idea guy." I start a lot more than I finish. I'm going to let some go or try to sell them. I do believe that domains are the real estate of the information age. I've got some pretty good ones, but I need to do some development for sure.

I've got about 15 domains. 3 are active and a few are pretty much for expired launches so they will be disappearing soon. A few are for projects that are still in development which could very well be another way of saying SOS.

I have broken that rule on more occasions that I like to admit.

I have close to 80. My practice is NOT to let them lie idle. I develop them into blogs and stock them with content monthly. I offer the same service to domain owners who don't want to just let their domains remain undeveloped. You have a better chance of making passing ad income money if you turn it into a blog that has updated content

If I log into my godaddy account I will have to acknowledge my lack of action with some premium domain names.

So In order to remain Ignorant and keep my small hold on sanity I will say somewhere Over 20 But less than 40......I think......I hope its less than 40.

    Oh God........

I've about 40 or 50 and just building my first site, I bought them some for resell and the others for my sites, It's good idea when you plan a future proyect buy the domain quickly because maybe after a time isn't available anymore

Yes, you could do that or maybe someone interested in your domain contact you through email and make you an offer...

I was thinking in list one or two of my domains at Flippa but I don't know very well if I should pay an amount for list them or whether is free, I'll have to take a look...

I've nearly 30 Domains. It doesn't really matter the amount of domains that you have. What matters is that you should be able to manage those sites. I'm finding it difficult to manage these 30 Domains, God knows how people happen to manage hundreds to domains.

I used to have 90+ domains. But then realized having too many domains and registering new domains every time doesn't make you rich, but just the opposite. You'll be better off promoting your one website and one idea, than with your dozen ideas. Because you can't do all at the same time, unless you have a team of workers working for you. Right now I only have 62 and looking forward to owning even lesser number of domains.

I, at one point. Managed over 5,000 domains (was a GoDaddy preferred customer with my own GoDaddy rep, etc.). Since then I've dramatically downsized and have about 50-100 domains now. I sold a bunch on Sedo, let a bunch go. But I also moved away from GoDaddy and use NetEarthOne now (as a reseller) and love the flexibility and control I have as my OWN reseller of domains, plus the cost
