Social Bookmarking: index page or deeper pages or both?

What sayeth ye, fellow warriors! ;-) - for a niche site you're bookmarking over time (not a one-time bookmarking) should you bookmark the index page each time, deeper pages, or what? Also, how often do you suggest bookmarking? One of the things I've been wondering if the SE's see too-frequent bookmarking as spamming, or they love it, or what?

What would be some good social bookmarking guidelines?--I'm sure a bunch of us will benefit from your help and suggestions!

THANKS!
David

    Bookmark all of your pages

Then pay for other people to bookmark the same pages if you start to see some results...

That is what I do anyway.

There are too many spampaigns going on.

What I hate are comments like --

"Always great tips from [POSTER]. Thanks for telling me about [TITLE]. What do you think about Google's new algo and [TOPIC].

      Here's what I'll typically do:

First I write and upload a new web page, fresh original content that is intended to be actually helpful information.

Yes, I do SEO the page, but it's written for humans.

Then I use social marker, but I only bookmark to reddit, technorati, digg, delicious, stumble upon and sometimes twitter.

      That's my whole bookmarking strategy.

      Any suggestions for improvements?

      THANKS!

I say you bookmark all your pages. You can also use all the bookmarking site just don't over do it. May be 2 or 3 per day so you wont appear as spamming. Also you can create free blogs that link to your pages and bookmark them also.

Tip: After you have bookmark your pages you can also ping your bookmarks with pingoat.com and pingomatic.com

        Hope that helps

        • I would do both. But whoever said the deeper stuff is better for SEO is right.

    Both.

For generic topics that apply to your niche, point it to the main page.

For specific topics, to the deep, relevant page.

I've never been 100% sure what the etiquette is for balancing social bookmarking effectively and overdoing it.

I suppose my strategy noted above is somewhat conservative, but I'm not really sure.

Does anyone have knowledge of how often/much is often/much enough, and how often/much is too often/much?

      THANKS!

I've just been converted from bookmarking demon to socialbot and it's by far the best bookmarking tool I've used so far! It automates the process very effectively and saves you so much time. Would agree that bookmarking within the separate pages of your site (deep bookmarking) is great way to get greater results much quicker as well. Never underestimate the importance and vital need for bookmarking!

Hey Samuel, using a tool is a good idea, could certainly save a lot of time. Any word on the downsides of the socialbot program you're using?

      Thanks!

How often can I bookmark one of my own pages (on the same domain)?

If I wanted to bookmark one new page a day on my dmoain, how many other pages on other sites would I need to bookmark? (this is based on just using one set of social bookmarking accounts).
