Long or Short Squeeze Pages

Hi all,

So When it comes to sales pages all the gurus say that long copy always wins compared to the short one.

I am wondering though: Does this happen with squeeze pages as well? I am currently on a split testing between a typical squeeze page and another one with a bit longer copy( looks like a sales page) and the optin form at the end of the page.
There is no clear winner at the moment on my test since it is just 2 days old.

Do you guys have any similar experience?

You know, I have had a bit of success with both -- however, the the squeeze pages were not promoting the same product, or the same niche, so I cannot discuss a true "split test" sample.

Nonetheless, the longer squeeze pages I have used (ie., designed as a sales page, as you mentioned) have done fairly well in the self-help niche. This is possibly my own belabored musings, but I think people who are looking for information concerning their happiness, illness, relationships, etc. need a bit more enticing than other niches.

The short squeeze page (ie., a headline & some benefits) have done quite well for me in the gambling niche (not the self-help gambling addiction niche, mind you. HA!) We can probably all guess why this was the case ... gamblers are often impulse and do not need much of a 'push' to make a rational (or the opposite) decision.

In the end, I would argue that it depends on your niche. And, even that, I would suggest doing a split test of your options. I did not, as mentioned, and I am afraid that I could have possibly seen different results for various niches.

From what I have seen short pages works if it has a video with allot of information.

I don't know about others, but I don't really read long sales copy or opt in page.

I notice that right now more gurus are using videos and I think this is better plus a short info.

    Just my 2 cents

Come on people. This is ABC marketing.

Forget what you think works. Forget what you saw some guru doing. Forget what you read in some freebie ebook that went on about the benefits of the three bullet squeeze or something other b/s like that.

    Test it.

Your niche, your traffic, your product, your squeeze page will perform differently and behave in different ways to every other niche/traffic source/product/squeeze and the only way to know what works for YOU is to test it.

    Test it.

Nobody on this forum can give you a reliable answer; nobody knows how it will work out for you.

Create a long squeeze pag; create a short squeeze page - send traffic to them both and then see what has the higher conversion rate.

Very far from rocket science, yet the majority of people are just to lazy to do it.

    The difference between a 30% opt-in and a 40% could be the difference between $3000 a month and $4000.

If we look at each subscriber as worth $1 per month and you sent 10'000 visitors to the site and had a 30% opt-in rate - you would potentially be making a $3000 a month income - while if you made a few minor tweaks and had a 40% opt-in then you would be making $4000.

An extra K a month from at the very most, a days work.

Seems I'm late, but this is exactly that. Craft two of them, one long with all the text you think necessary, another short with bullets only, put them to test. See which one converts better.

Duplicate the winner, change just one element in the duplicate. Test these two against each other. See which one is performing better. Rinse and repeat until you get a real winner.

Yeah well said Ryan... you just don't know till you test!

HOWEVER squeeze pages typically convert better if:

They are short, sharp, to the point, have a clear call to action and tell your visitor exactly what to do next... and they do very well with video... cos you can give them clear instructions at the end of the vid!
