Pick of the Day, WSO of the day, Who picks it and What makes a winner?

G'day,

Just doing some late night work and was winding up processing some email so I don't have to deal with it in the morning.

I always take a look at the various Product of the day awards from the payment processors and also the review sites, I think I get 4 or 5 a day from different sources and I take a look out of curiosity more than anything. Its good research too for sales copy etc etc.

Anyway My point is this:

Who picks the products and does an actual human review the product or even try it before a recommendation is given?

I ask because in the last 2 weeks I have seen several of these so called AWARD winning products..... well lets just say that the customers didn't agree with the recommendations.

Several where pretty good too and I actually bought One. So its Not all bad.

Now I have been the recipient of one of these awards and it lead to a great increase in sales, But the happiest part for me, was that my refund rate was just over 2%. Or Under 3% for the glass half empty people. So I got to keep the money I made as well as my reputation.

Now,I have NO idea HOW I won it, I don't know WHY I won it, I didn't get a notice to say I had won it, i just woke up one morning 2 days after launch and I had made 200+ sales. (The goal was 40, so you can imagine how that felt)

The award was very much appreciated and it has motivated me no end with my product creation.

BUT Lately with the awards being awarded to..... Big piles of steaming >>>> I feel that the prestige and the benefits of such awards are being diluted.

It would also be nice for those that make the decisions on what make a product the best one of the day, to let us in on how that decision is reached.
It would give all of us product creators a little something to work for and once again the award could sit proudly on the mantle and mean something.

I believe this may also Motivate people to take that extra day or two with their product to make it better value, quality and of better use to those that buy it.

Thanks for listening.

Oda

Mike Lantz from WarriorPlus.com picks the WSO of the Day, and it's not connected to the Warrior Forum or Allen Says in any way. So if you'd like to know more about the review and selection process, talk to Mike Lantz.

    Cheers,
    Becky

p.s. It's a way for W+ to make money, so don't look at it as an "award" with prestige. Think of it more as a product with a good conversion rate.

AFAIK, there are two main kinds of daily picks from "payment processors" as you call them.

One is WarriorPlus.com - owned by Mike Lantz.

The other one is JVZoo.com - this is a newer one - owned by Bryan Zimmerman and E Brian Rose.

They would recommend products released on their processing platforms. So to get WarriorPlus.com "award", your product needs to be on the WarriorPlus platform. To get JVZoo.com "award", your product needs to be on the JVZoo platform.

      Hope you got it.

By the way, AFAIK, these are not official ratings from Warrior Forum. There are ratings given by the seasoned professionals owning/having stakes in the respective processors.

          Hi Oda,

They most likely will never reveal exactly what it takes, or exactly how their decisions are made. If they did, then people would start creating WSO for the sole purpose of meeting those criteria.

          That would be a problem.

          All the best,
          Michael

I don't know who picks the products to get the WSO of the day but yes, the review is made by human. If you want to get WSO of the day, you need to fill the Access info on the listing setup on Warrior Plus.

And like R Hagel said, it's not just an award but it's how Warrior Plus get sales. They promote the product to their list and make money as an affiliate.

    1. These awards are usually only selected by one or two people meaning that at the end of the day, it is only one person's opinion. So take it for what it is worth.

    2. You will notice most of the networks who have these awards will only ever give them to offers that are being sold through their network. So it's not actually what they consider to be the best WSO of the Day. It is the best WSO of the Day running through their particular network. The awards do not take into account all the other offers running that day.

    3. Due to the nature of these awards, the products being recommended will not always be great. These awards are 'of the day' meaning they HAVE to choose a product each and every day so even on days where they don't feel there are any products worthy of promoting, they will still promote the best of a bad bunch. So keep that in mind also.

As always, make sure you do your own research before buying anything.
