Confused/lost about where to start in IM

Greetings everyone in the warrior forum. I'm very new to this place and to marketing, and I'm not sure exactly what I should be doing first in all of this. I've bought a few OTO and its helped a little bit. The way I would like to make money is from writing articles for the most part. I just want to be self-employed because working a physical job ain't for me lol.

You can try by registering with "iwriter.com". You can also offer writing gigs on Fiverr. Also offer your services in this forum.

A Warriors for Hire thread would be better, as they could start off charging a bit more (assuming the OP is able to write at all. We don't know from one post). The ideal long term solution is to start your own website and target clients outside of the IM niche, as they pay a lot more for quality content.

If you have a little bit of money to invest it would probably be worth it to do a search on the wso forum on writing or writers as there may be some good information there on how to build a writing business.

Yeah I'm pretty good at writing and will probably be getting into that to make some money first. I have a question about writing for other people. Do people write contracts or something when it comes to making deals like that? Or do they have to just hope they'll send the money to their paypal account.

I've had my writer for over 3 years and have never had a contract - I send her the topics, she sends me the articles, I send her the payment. Simple. If you are concerned about it sign up with iwriter or the other services that will deal with the money side. You can tout your services on the WF, Warriors for Hire, Freelancer, Vworker, iwriter etc. Personally, I'd make a plan to do work for your clients x amount per week and work on your own projects at least once per week eg building up a website/squidoo lenses/reports/plr/books etc so you are building multiple streams of passive income.

I would have to disagree that this is not the easiest way to make money from articles. To make money from a squidoo lense you really need to understand SEO and how to get links to your lenses and how to get traffic to your lenses....

Don't think that just by writing a bunch of lenses that you are going to magically get a bunch of money in your paypal account because that is false.

If you are going to put in the effort of trying to monetize your articles by getting traffic to them (rather than selling the articles) then this is a completely differnet ball game! And requires a lot more experience in Search engine optimization and how to monetize your own content on the web....

You need to make the decision now as to whether you want to sell article writing services, or you want to monetize content on the web...

If you choose top monetize content, Squidoo is definitely not the easiest way to do it...

    1. Start with Fiverr to get some experience and money coming in

    2. The move on eLance and oDesk (better pay)

    3. Once you have samples and you cam make a resume... (best pay)

Then put ads on Craiglist for "real" freelance jobs.

You can get $75 per article from offline clients - but you need a resume and great samples.

Bear in mind that you have a finite amount of working
or writing time available to you. Therefore, if you write
full time, there is a maximum amount of money that you
    can earn.

Your income will be determined by how many articles you
can write and how much you can charge for each article.

Put an ad up in the Warrior for Hire section here on this site. I think it costs around $20. You should be able to get some clients that way.

Jason, I would strongly recommend that you move as quickly as possible from writing "articles" to writing information products (ebooks, reports, books, training programs" where YOU market these as full products on your own.

You can ghostwrite when needed to add more income, but ideally you want a few of your own products earning you passive income as well.

With your own products you can have other people promote them for you (affiliates/joint ventures) which makes your income much more hands-off than writing on a strictly project basis.

Oh yeah I had another question. I'm thinking about making a blog too, but I'm not sure how I can profit from it. Don't I need ads from other websites to make money for myself? And how would I go about getting ads from websites onto my blog?

My advice would be to not get spread too thin when you start. If you're going to write for other people, then write for other people. If you're going to blog on your own, then blog on your own. If you are capable of making a detailed plan of how you could do both and stick to it, you might be alright.

The main thing is to get going and make some money to prove to yourself that you can do it. Learn from your mistakes (you WILL make mistakes, don't get discouraged) and build from there.

It would be easier to help you come up with a plan of action if we knew more. How much money can you invest to get started? Which niches/markets do you prefer to write for? How much time can you commit to your new endeavor?
