Here's My Secret, Whats yours?

So I am in the sharing mood today, and thought I'd offer some advice to anyone who cares.

My secret to making money goes a little something like this ....
1. Keyword research
2. Purchase of Exact Domain
3. Outsource quality links & social bookmarks to the page ( The supplier is the one I use for my site in the sig)
4. Figure out where my page lies in google, yahoo, & bing using keyword rank tool
5. Get 1-2 keywords ranked page 1 on any of the 3
6. List for sale on flippa.

Total investment - About $100
$10 Domain name
$50 Link building
$40 Social bookmarkings

Avg sale on flippa - About $300-$500

Doesn't seem that hard and besides keyword research, everything is done for me. Talk about the lazy man's strategy.

What does your blueprint look like?

Seems like you skipped mentioning the content of the sites themselves.

I will say, though, that site flipping is a pretty easy thing to do once you get the hang of it.

      Good point! Sorry about that.

My sites are always a blog, and I enjoy writing the articles myself to save money and so that I know it is 100% unique.

You must be going after some low volume keywords if they are getting ranked with just bookmarks. Those wouldn't generate huge volumes of traffic and revenue so I'm surprised they would sell well on flippa. You must have a good sales pitch. You could get the same bookmakring done on fiverr instead of paying $40 which would increase your ROI.

I always thought that the secret to online riches and any type of wealth for that matter is...wait for it...COPYWRITING!

We are not internet marketers, we are marketers first of all. The Internet is the medium we use to advertise. Any method of making money online will depend on how good you are with words. As far as I'm concerned, I'm studying the great men in copywriting like mad.

Its not that much work at all actually, and turn around time is pretty quick. I don't like to hold onto them because I dont like spending a bunch of time keeping track of all the domains and keywords. Gets confusing and sloppy, but maybe its me and my organizing skills.

To me making an extra $300-$800 a month is a great help and does exactly what I need it to, pay off debt so i'm happy.

That was my thinking too. Seems like you could keep the sites around a while, build a bit more content and organic backlinks, and sell them a bit higher with a "vision" of where the buyer could take this business to higher levels with a little TLC.

I appreciate your revelations... hope you do well with it.

I have to agree with the others here, if you're going to do all that work for a few hundred dollars why not target more competitive KW's and rank it properly? You could end up making much, much more. And if you wanted to flip it, you could make at least 10 times that.

For a couple hundred bucks, I'd just write and sell content.

This is a neat idea. I tried it a while back but I don't think the copy for the flippa sale was very good (my fault, of course).

I had the reserve set to $200, and even though I promoted it on the front page for $49, the bid never went past $120. The site had two page 1 rankings.

It might be worth trying again, though. If you're actually making $300 - $500 per website, I would love to know a bit more about your process and how you structure the copy of the sale.

    Hi

Not to come off as negative (it is 1 AM here and time for bed) but I didn't see one secret. All I saw was a standard cookie-cutter blueprint espoused in most WSOs.

Originally Posted by jpsween88 View Post

Not shocking stuff. Very generic info and no 'secrets'.

    3. Outsource quality links & social bookmarks to the page ( The supplier is the one I use for my site in the sig)
Again, outsourcing work- especially SEO- isn't exactly a secret. Your source might be 'secret' if you weren't broadcasting it in your sig with every post. Oh wait-- was that the real point of your post?

    4. Figure out where my page lies in google, yahoo, & bing using keyword rank tool
Again, very standard practice to track your rankings. A number of tools do this. Maybe if you had a 'secret', more accurate resource than most. But again, nothing revealed here.

    5. Get 1-2 keywords ranked page 1 on any of the 3
Oh, is this your 'secret'? Ranking keywords? That should knock the IM community on it's ear. </ sarcasm>

    6. List for sale on flippa.
    Flippa? Another 'secret' resource?

What does your blueprint look like?
Here are some lesser known (but not unknown) 'secrets':

    1. For adsense look at GKT Content Network CPC instead of the Search CPC for more accurate numbers. Many people don't realize how different these two numbers (search vs content) can be.

    2. Although an EMD is very helpful in less competitive niches, it is less so as the keywords become more competitive. Aged domains carry more weight than an EMD as keywords/niches get more competitive. Look for expiring/expired domains that you can snap up cheaply that have backlinks already indexed in Google. They don't need to be EMD, just look for ones that contain one or some of your keywords. You can pile more backlinks on them quickly with less chance of a penalty and aged domains, unlike new domains, don't usually get 'sandboxed' while Google tries to figure out what to do with them.

    3. Instead of building links directly to "the page", consider creating your own private blog network. You don't need a ton of sites and aged domains can push a lot of backlinks to your money pages without penalty.

Look for aged domains with PR/backlinks on places like GoDaddy auctions. You can find lots of expired 'personal' domains for lawyers, doctors, politicians that can quickly be built into generic, multi-topic news sites good for providing backlinks to any niche. You can put 10 or 20 links to your money sites from each page of an aged domain private blog site without getting noticed by Google.

    4. SEM Rush is good for checking your ranking. A paid account gives more results than a free one. Also, 'register' or 'look up' your domain at sites like Alexa, looking up or registering a domain makes sure it 'exists' in Alexa.

    5. Start with getting 1 keyword (your main keyword) ranked. Then start on the second.

Alternatively, start an authority site targeting 100s of keywords and don't worry about 'ranking' them right away. As you get traffic, check your AWStats or Google Analytics to see what keywords are bringing traffic and what pages are getting hits. Concentrate on the keywords Google is sending traffic to your site for and promote (interlink on your site) the pages the traffic is landing on. Work with Google. Google tells you what keywords they are sending traffic for.

    6. To maximize your return on Flippa make sure you have verifiable stats.

Also, collect email addresses from all your Flippa customers. Build a list of previous site buyers and you will be able to sell sites directly to your list and save a lot of cash by not listing on Flippa. Then you only have to list (and pay fees for) sites that don't sell to your personal list.

    Here are some other 'secrets':

    1. eBay power sellers get a customer list they can contact. Find an ebay powerseller in your niche and write an 'article' on your blog/site about their store and products. Tell them about the article and encourage them to send their customers to read it. Naturally they will send a link to their buyers list to this article discussing/promoting their store. Bam, instant traffic.

    2. YouTube SEO is tolerant of keyword spam tactics. Many used to work on Google but not anymore, yet they still work on YouTube. Stuff keywords in your Title and Description. For example Video Title: "Keyword - My Keyword Review, Learn about Keyword"

    3. Google indexes and ranks PDF files. Convert your content to PDF and submit to document sharing sites like Google Docs and Scribner. Put links in the PDF files for backlink juice as well as direct traffic.

    4. Google Suggest doesn't just check for options after your keyword. Try Google Search for 'a keyword', 'b keyword', 'c keyword', etc. to get suggestions for popular search terms that come in front of your keyword.

I hope some of those tips were 'helpful', if not 'secret'.

    Peace,

    Mahlon

If it works for you then good for you. You've done more than a lot of the others on this forum which is WORK. Of course everyone always says "that's no secret" ... but that doesn't matter, everything is a secret to everyone at one point or another.
