Give me something new to try

I've made and sold some products of my own, but I make most of my money through affiliate programs and PPC. I do pretty well, nothing amazing, but pretty well.

My problem?

I'm bored.

So forget PPC. What should I try?

Bum marketing? Social networks? Membership sites? PLR? Site flipping? There's plenty of stuff out there that I only have a peripheral understanding of, and I'd enjoy a challenge. So what do you think?

          Chris -

I'd start my search on Google Groups.

I also think that anything - using the
          platform I shared - where people'd
hop on a plane and travel across the
country (or planet) to attend a live
          event is a winner.

          Also, I'm partnering with someone
locally to create a hometown setup
as a test. With enough pull, the goal
is to grab a market share away from
the local paper - everyone in the
          community becomes a reporter, an
          editor, etc.

The other site I'm currently working
on is based around video content. A
partner in the site has acquired one of
the local TV stations, and a full-blown
video production studio. We'll use the
TV station to drive traffic to get things
going - then use the built in viral tools
to get people to spread the word.

Just a couple ideas - I'm excited about
          this stuff. :-)

I was thinking the same thing with the local portal/community site, especially since we Bostonians have such an ego. Living in NYC's shadow must make us feel like underdogs or something, even after the ALC ass-whooping we handed the Yankees in '04

Boston.com pretty much owns the space around here, but if there's even the slightest crack in that wall, I'd be fun to start picking at it.

I'm pretty excited to test the waters of 'Social Networking' and I see that's the way to go... let your users generate the content for you!!! Niche Social Networking is the new web 2.0 as they call it. It's the evolution of traditional 'portal/community/forum' based websites.

We now have the tools to create our own social networks.
