Can Anyone Start a WSO Now?

I've noticed at least two WSOs in the last few days started by members with no posts (at least in areas of the forum where posts are counted) who are not even War Room members. When I first joined the forum, you needed a certain number of posts to create a WSO. Then the requirement was that you had to be a War Room member. Has this also been lifted, or do some just slip past the notice of the admins?

I don't buy many WSOs right now, but I think it's good to have some restrictions for the sake of quality control. Since it's stated that it has to be a good offer (or at least not a "junk" offer), this might make newbies assume that anyone who posts a WSO is reputable. But if anyone can sign up for free and launch one, it makes it a little too easy. One of these offers that I saw yesterday, from a new member, was actually a method that supposedly taught you how to make money with WSOs!

Nobody can sign up for free and launch one.

You'd have to sign up as a War-Room member ($37) and then pay another $40 to list a WSO. But people can do that, as far as I'm aware. And why not? The forum's only selling advertising space, not "vouching for" the advertiser in any way, you know? It's "caveat emptor", just like anywhere else. (Except that there are a few more conditions than in most places, and anything demonstrated to be illegal/stolen/etc, will be removed).

I don't look in there any more, really (other than by following sig-file links of people I know, or good recommendations), but my guess is that most brand new members' WSO's make comparatively few sales, because nobody knows who they are or anything much about them?

Alexa, the ones I'm referring to don't seem to be by War Room members -unless they did pay and the badge just isn't showing up yet.

True, it's caveat emptor whenever you buy something, especially when it's not a physical product but a method or course. I still like to browse there and see what kind of things are being promoted.

Hmmm ... yes, maybe. Not sure. The rules certainly say you have to be a War Room member to list a WSO. (Not for "Classifieds" and "Warriors For Hire", I think?).

You do have to be a War Room member to post a WSO. If you don't see the notation, it's just a glitch in the system. I got this info from the best authority (Paul Myers).

As for members with 0 posts offering WSOs, well, nobody in their right mind is going to take those offers seriously.

    Larry,
unless they did pay and the badge just isn't showing up yet.
    This.

Sometimes a person will join the War Room and not show publicly as having paid. I believe it happens when they don't log in or post there. If the ad shows in the WSO section, they have paid. I don't believe you can start a thread there if that flag isn't set in your account.

There is no restriction on number of posts but you do need to be a War Room member to post one. I personally don't care whether new members can post one or not. I'm far less likely to buy a product from someone who I haven't seen around the forum and come to like and respect.

Same here. I don't like seeing WSOs posted by someone with under 5 posts because it's obvious they're only here for one thing. Instead they could participate in the community here and build some trust, but their loss I guess.

I guessw the truth is that if you placed an ad in your local classifieds or craigslist you would only be doing it for one thing too, and thats not bad.

What I hate to see is someone POSTING a bunch of crap thats only for one thing. That upsets me. Because its ingenuine, and undermines the integrity of the forum.

If they pay for the war-room membership and pay to have the WSO listed; yes, anyone can.

But, unless they actually have a worth-while product, I see very little point in doing so.

Well, Paul cleared up the main question. In most cases, these threads are treated skeptically by other warriors anyway, so they probably don't make a huge number of sales.

Upon paying the appropriate fees, yes, anyone can start a WSO. But that's the same as in real life. Anyone with money can start their own business. But as we also know from real life, it's only a very small percentage of those businesses that will still be trading a year later.

I feel like we've talked about a similar thing before...

It would be ideal if every seller contributed, but they don't. I'd personally not buy from someone I didn't know (or buy period, to be perfectly honest), but there can be situations where a renowned or very talented marketer has something of value to give from the start.

It's just the nature of WSO's these days. It's a full fledged marketplace, and just like some are only here to buy them, some will only be here to sell them.
