Not having any offers in your autoresponder

I was just wondering something about offers in emails.

I was trying to think of funky ninja ways to set up my autoresponder so that I could decide the times I offer a product. I didn't want to have it set in stone since I only have 2 products I think people should get.

I found a great article here explaining it - http://www.stevescottsite.com/autore...roadcast-email

Anyway I set my autoresponder up so I give out purely tips and no offers. I set every message so it will only send it out on Monday and Friday between 9am and 12am.

Now I will use a broadcast on a Wednesday to either send out extra tips or an offer. I learned from Steve's article that I can also make sure I send the broadcast to people who have been on my list for a certain amount of time.

I was just wondering who else uses this?

I used a similar technique, however after a while i failed to see any real reason behind it. Specifically only sending broadcasts via Aweber to people who had been subbed for a certain period of time. Why not just send it to everyone?

But that was just for my list, im sure there are plenty of reasons why marketers would use such techniques.

    Thanks,

Just because you might not want to send an offer to someone who has been on your list for 2 days, but it would be different if they had already been getting great information for 4 weeks.

The first question I'd like to ask here is "why do we build a list?".
The only CORRECT answer is" "to make money from it".
Why are you afraid, then, of promoting to your list? You should provide valuable content, but you should also present your offer so that the people on your list get used to them.

I would say you make two basic mistakes here:
    1. Posting on the same days of the week (after some time your prospects will become blind to your e-mails. I would suggest spacing your mailings by 5 days. I don't know why, but it plain works if you look at open ratio).
    2. Separating offers from content. Imagine that: I get your e-mail with content on Monday, then another e-mail with content on Friday - let's assume these are your mailing days. Then, in the next week, one on Monday (content), one on Wednesday (offer), one on Friday (content). After some time you'll have trained me to disregard any e-mail from you on any other day than Monday and Friday, because they are pitch e-mails.

Now, if you mix offers with the content (what's wrong with that), you'll shoot two birds with one stone - have your e-mails opened, and have your offers seen.
If you can relate the offer to the content, put a link or two with a bit explanation why this is a good thing to have this one. You can also send links to free and paid resources (in separate e-mails) so that you audience will click them to see what you have in store for them today.

If you can't easily correlate the offer with the content, use PS - in my opinion the most overlooked part of the message, while it is a very elegant and unobtrusive form to put your advertising in front of your subscribers.

I would disagree about building a list to make money. It's about having a way of generating traffic on demand, and being a leader in your niche. If you do that right then the money will follow.

How you mail is up to you, do what feels right for you, sometimes you may have a lot to say, other times you will not. In terms of the actual autoresponder add in emails for the evergreen products you promote and a mixture of old blog posts that you're most proud of.

i always have follow up emails in place

for my buyers lists i have at least 5 - 7 emails set up (which is kind of bonus info for after people buy)

for my freebie lists i have at least 15+ emails set up

1 list i have 15 emails spanning a few weeks the other around 21 spanning around 40 days

you can always add follow up emails into your funnel as time goes by so you dont need to add them all at once

when it comes to emailing my lists i use broadcasts when i have offers to promote which is not often or if i have a new blog post

the only products which i include in my funnels are my own products at the moment

PS: i never worry about what days my messages go out on, if you have a good enough relationship with your subscriber they will read it no matter what day of the week it is

and i know what you mean about only emailing people that have been on your list a certain amount of time. Personally i never worry about this, there is an option to segment your broadcast so that you can only send an email to your subs which have been on your list a certain amount of time

but its not something that i ever worry about and i still get good results from my efforts

Infusionsoft has an awesome system... too bad their price point is ridiculous.

Why do you want traffic on demand or to be a leader in your niche? Lol :p
