Should I link my new ebook to my main site or a new domain. looking for advice.

Hi Warriors.

I need your advice please.

I have created an ebook of internet marketing terms. I would like to offer this ebook for free to my website's subscribers.

To put it together was a lot of work and I thought I could benefit from it two ways.

1. I was thinking that I should upload this ebook to one of my domains that I am not using and use that link for the download.

2. I thought that I could also include that terminology on my main website since my website relates to IM and it would provide a valuable content to my site. Also, it tokk me a long time to create.

So to cover myself from having duplicate content on my main website, the terminology would be on my main site and the ebook download would be linked to another site.

The readers of my main site would have a choice of visiting my terminology page and/or downloading the free ebook.

Could you please give me your opinion.

Thanks,

Dita

I used to have mine linked to the site I was operating from/main blog...but for the sake of the brand name on eBook...I just put it on its own domain...either way works...just depends on what you looking to do

      Thank kelseydeshaz,

The only reason I did not want to put it on the main site is because I want to include the dictionary on that site as well. And I thought that if I linked my PDF to my site and have the dictionary page as well Google would see it as duplicate content. (I imagine that search engine will crawl the PDF)

Lets not get started on the duplicate content...I can see the Warrior members pouring in here now LOL... But it should be fine to put it on the main site...even if you have the dictionary content there too...

What is your objective with this ebook...to build a list? If it is, then your next question is "Is this topic top of mind for your prospect...do they have the urgency and desire for IM terminology to instantly give up their contact information and join your list?" I would think that a getting started mixed with terminology may work better here, but that is up to you.

If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then focus on exposing as many of your visitors to this free ebook offer as you can to start maximizing your list building.

As for re-using the content to get traffic...what I would do there is take an IM term each day (or every couple of days - whatever you can commit to) and post a 4-5 paragraph blog post about that term...the definition, a description, options for how to accomplish that term...and then link back to your free ebook landing page. That way you drive relevant traffic to your landing page and they can download the full ebook for more...make sense?
