Help me understand Amazon pricing & linking methods

Im trying to promote products through Amazon associates program for the 1st time & was doing some research on Amazon.com

Bumped into few doubts, which i believe marketers here would be able to clarify

1) Can I use link shortner to shoftify the long amazon affiliate unique url (like www.mysite.com/amazonlink) OR does it amount to masking or hiding their links.I believe amazon is against masking & hiding their affiliate urls
2) This is about the pricing part - I got a particular product category & products are listed in a grid style wherein there are three pricings.a)Buy new: $120 b)10 new from $110 c) 1 used from $50

I understand the 'used' pricing but what are 'Buy new' & '10 new from $xxx' stand for?

While promoting products, which price should I take?

Using a link shortener like the example you gave has been permissible in the past. As long as you are not trying to hide the fact that it is a link to Amazon and you have the appropriate disclaimers, you should be okay. Best way to make sure is to drop a note to the support people, though.

One thing you do lose with a lot of link shorteners is the tracking pixel. So clicks through the redirect won't show in your associate stats.

"Buy new" means you are buying a brand new item directly from Amazon. "10 new from $xxx" means that you could buy from another vendor through Amazon. For the sake of completeness, "buy used" means you are buying from third parties offering goods through Amazon.

Unless you are willing to update prices often, it's best not to take any of them. If you have to take one, take the 'buy new' (Amazon) price. Add a 'click to see current low prices' link in case you miss an update.

There are technical solutions using the Amazon API, but those are better left to someone else to explain...

Hmm. so i think its better to post the long amazon associates unique URL as it is & use a link shortner or redirector for other links that point to other affiliate networks like CJ (if they accept)

Anyways, thanks for ur time to answer.

That sounds like a plan. I think you will find that Amazon links are so common that the long link won't matter. People who will buy from Amazon trust Amazon - probably more than they trust you until they get to know you. If they don't trust Amazon, they won't buy from Amazon regardless of whether the link is shortened or not.
