Affiliate Marketing vs Own Product

The #1 reason in favor of having your own product vs promoting someone else's is that the marketing part becomes so much easier.

You no longer have to worry about your "traffic" clicking through your link to get the product. You just have to spread a word about the product and establish a brand name.

Here's what I've been doing lately:
I have a google alert setup for discussions for each of my keywords. These alerts should be sent at the very time the new results becomes available to google.

I just go to these discussions and add a reply about my product and make it look natural. Then the thread visitors google the product name and surely my website is at the top. Since I'm not dropping links, my posts do not easily get marked as spam and get removed.

Sometimes I'm a little creative and do not mention my product's name straight away. I let someone on the forum ask me what I'm using and then reply to them just to make it look natural.

Other times, I make it clear that I'm the product developer/creator.

I cannot really track but I'm sure this is helping a lot in sales.

Hope this helps someone.

I presume you're that same other person? I've tried that, though. It's the same concept with the Q&A.

If you're talking about this statement below:

Then no, I'm not the same person. I just tell them what I'm doing and more than often someone asks me how I'm doing it. Then I can safely mention my own software products.

If your starting out affiliate marketing is way better. Learning to drive quality pre qualified traffic can take a long time, and its better spend doing just that than creating product and running a business.

I think affiliate marketing is best to start off with, then and only then when you have mastered different traffic techniques and good conversions, should you start to dip your toes in the water of product creation!

The thing with product creation is the quality of the product! so many wso's out there telling you how to create your own product and different methods of doing so, but I've yet to see one that teaches how to build a quality content product! yeah the product looks asthetically pleasing but the content is re-hashed. If your going to create your own, make sure its good, as the bottom line is, its your name on this product, and if its no good, that will damage your reputation for a long time!

Own product sounds better and you will get 100% of it but in reality it is very difficult for most people at least at the initial stage.
