Can i use multiple affiliate links for the one product?

It is possible or even feasible to apply for 100 different affiliate links for the one product and then email your contact list (of 100) the links, but a different link goes to each contact so you know who made the purchase (since you know who that link was sent to) and by virtue can thank them for it in a follow up etc. Is there an easier way i.e. using tracking codes or other? Thanks.

I think the answer's going to depend on the merchant/vendor/network?

For example, with ClickBank products it would be possible, though extraordinarily time-consuming and complicated (not to mention entirely unnecessary as one could far more easily use tracking identification tags). There are certainly easier ways of identifying buyers, in affiliate marketing. (For example, incentivizing them to contact you with their receipt number/whatever.)

Thanks, this is the thing i don't want any extra effort on the customers at all i.e. forwarding me a copy of their email receipt as this may put them off (in the long run) you see it's an innovative system i'm just implementing into something at the moment so at a glace it seems a ridiculous concept. When you say they're far easier ways such as tracking identification tags, how does this work? I really need easier ways, thanks.

I think it doesn't need to, for example if you've offered them a free bonus for buying through your affiliate link?

The ClickBank system I mentioned allows you to append a tracking ID to your hoplink. It's designed so that you can know (for example) from which advertisement/source a purchasing customer followed your hoplink. In theory, one could send each email subscriber a different version which identifies them, I suppose. (It might even be possible to do so in a semi-automated way, using autoresponder software?)

        I can imagine ...

If you're an affiliate it's going to depend on the mechanism by which the vendor/merchant processes the sales and identifies your affiliate link (i.e. it isn't fully within your control), I think?

I think that here, Alexa refers to CBListAutomator: Automated List Builder and Bonus Delivery System. It's a script that you install on your hosting account. From what I understand, you tell your visitors that once they bought the product, to come back to your website and enter their name, email address and receipt number number they get from ClickBank in an opt in box similar to the ones you use to capture leads in the first place. Then the script, by pulling some data from Clickbank, verifies if the purchase was indeed made through your affiliate link, and if yes, the prospect is redirected to a thank you page where they can download the free PDF, or email them the download link. This way you can build your own list of buyers, to sell them over and over again. Quite neat, actually.

            Thanks.
But does this mean for every purchase they have to enter their details back on your site? Maybe "requesting" proof of purchase is the only way this is going to work problem free.

From what I know, yes - the buyer has to come back to your website and enter the required details in order to get access to the download page.

So for practicality, it's wise to include the opt-in box on the product review page.

Yeah that is for sure a good method but are there any other affiliate programs that allow this other than clickbank i.e. amazon or ebay or private ones (even better). Clickbank is mostly downloadable stuff which is fine but i definitely want links to tangible products also?

You can if it is not in violation of the tos of the product your selling. From your example though I would think you would need alot more than 100 emails to get a estimate on the rate of sale per affiliate link.

I am a true believer though that it is usually not the particular product but the actual sales copy that sales a product. Great sales copy = Great results.

You could always create your own product, and avoid all of this.
