Articles for directories or own website - which is better
I have found 40 keywords for a subniche with an average of 150 searches a day and under 10,000 competing pages (about half of those under 5,000). The first thing I think about is writing articles to submit to directories. Now I'm thinking why not write for my own site.
It seems to me that with some of the lower competing keywords (under 1,000 - no authority sites) my site should be able to rank high with basic SEO. Am I thinking correctly? When I search in quotes, what comes up is trash. When I search without quotes, I then see some websites that I would have a hard time beating (I think).
I know ultimately I need a lot more than 40 articles to dominate but I want to squeeze the most out of every article I can. I think I might split them in half and see what results I get.
