Where Do I Begin With My Internet Marketing Business?

Hey guys,

I'm a little confuse i have to admit. I have been buying and reading anything about internet marketing from ebooks to ecourses from all the great minds in this internet marketing business, whom i refers to as my great mentors.

My problem starts here, i have been online since 2007 when i first stumbled on the internet marketing business. Since then I've spend most of my time studying internet marketing and understanding the whole truth, tactics and anything i can gain which can help me start my own internet business.

Now that i have a bit of knowledge from most conners of internet marketing, thanks to my mentors. I'm ready to begin my internet marketing journey.

BUT the problem is i DON'T KNOW:
>where to find the audience to focus on
>What product to offer to the market or to my audience
>How do i create my own products
>how do i launch it (Since i'm a newbie with no JV's or a List)

These are some of the serious questions i'm having. I will be following this thread for my answers.

Thanks in advance for all of you Warriors who will be helping me with this ISSUE.

Thanks,
David

    Mike,

The place to start is at the beginning. Having all the knowledge in the world will not help if you do not have a straight-forward plan of attack. Much like traveling or combat, you need to know where you are, and where you want to go. then you take a step in that direction.

More importantly, you have several things you must do in order to get yourself going in the right direction.

    1) Start your business for the right reason. Know why your doing it and it will make it much smoother going.

    2) Take your business seriously. Do not treat it like a hobby. There is work involved and you either do it yourself, or pay someone to do it for you.

    3) Focus on your goals. Try to limit your activities toward your end goals. If watching tv is not helping you meet your goal, get rid of it. As you get better, learn more and become more efficient, you can take more breaks. Startup is the hardest time.

    4) Learn from other peoples mistakes. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel. People have done it before, and while not "super easy" it is not as hard as many "beginners" think.

    5) Understand that you will not likely get rich overnight. There are ways to become wealthy, but not usually in one night. Especially without a large list, or mega-JV partner.

    6) Don't worry about product creation just yet. Concentrate on what niches interest you the most. You will find that it is easier to do "work" you enjoy, then to learn completely new niches you never heard of.

    7) Product creations is so simple many people overlook it. The simplest method of creating a "product" is through combining related articles, altering the content of PLR products, or having one ghostwritten. Just depnds on your knowledge, your amount of time and money.

    8) Educate yourself is good, to a point. You do need to know what your doing. But concentrate on one aspect at a time. If your learning article marketing, focus on that until you learn it, have done it, and have become proficient at it. then move to Social bookmarking or other traffic generation techniques.

    9) Ask for help. Many people here will provide some help to those who ask it. Some of the best education comes from reading posts by other WF members. Look for topics with lots of traffic and likely you will find a gold nugget or two.

Those are the quickest answer I could give you at this time. Your likely off to a good start because you have asked for help. Just keep your haed on straight, try to avoid information overload, and just keep taking one step closer to your final destination. As long as you keep moving forward, you will reach your destination eventually.

    Derek

ps, the link in my sig is a free ebook for avoiding common mistakes many beginners make. It goes into further details of the points above and how to avoid them.

Ahhh...once again...a victim of information overload.

BUT the problem is i DON'T KNOW:
    >where to find the audience to focus on

Most ppl would say that this is the last stage. Wrong! It's really the first question to ask yourself. Finding your demographic and seeing if it is large enough to support a profitable buying market. This will take most of your research time and locating where they are hanging out at on the net.

    >What product to offer to the market or to my audience

Well, the politically correct answer would be...any product that you already have some basic knowledge about.

But...I'll give you a hint. Products and services sell easier if there is ongoing offline media. Like for example your news channels. Foreclosers seem to be a really big issue. Products along those lines would fair well. Just address the issues that the media brings to the front on a consistant bases and offer solutions.

    >How do i create my own products

Quick fix...PLR or a ghostwriter. Both can be optainable on this forum.

    >how do i launch it (Since i'm a newbie with no JV's or a List)

Clickbank...PayDotCom and of course, Self Promotion.

shameless plug: you could always ck the sig file

I get many people contact me everyday asking just this - concentrate on what you already do i.e. your job, your hobbies etc.

For example i see people going into the Internet Marketing niche knowing nothing and those that know what there talking about will be able to put the content together a lot quicker and will never run out of new material to put on their blog or website.

    Hi David,

Don't get me wrong, you say that you learned Internet marketing
but based on what you are asking I think you didn't learn the
    basic things.

You have to know your audience, did you define your niche?
    That's crucial.

Once you know the market you are going to target then do a
research to identify their needs and wants. Also, find out if
they are willing to pay for something that fulfills those needs
    and wants.

If so, go to Clickbank or any other affiliate network and pick
a good product and start promoting it.

Don't forget to build a list of subscribers.

    Thanks,
    ^PV Reymond

Ask your self these questions when you are considering a niche:

      1. Can this audience be profitable for me? Are they BUYING ?
      2. Can I provide A LOT of good content for this audience, e.g. articles ?
      3. Can I locate 2-3 affiliate products to promote ?
      4. Can I create/outsource the creation of product (e.g. ebook) that answers their burning questions and sell it to them ?
      5. Is this an evergreen market, will I be able to sell to this audience in 5 years from now?

If the answer is 'yes' go for it.

Would agree that you need to focus on your passions to get a profitable internet marketing business up an running, that way you will never be short of content and never be short of enthusiasm for your niche or subject! This way you will never run out of new material to put on their blog or website, and most importantly have an enthusiasm to help and assist people in your chosen business!

Thanks for that post - I think its a sentiment shared by many newbie IMers, you are not alone.
BTW I know there will be many in the forum who will give you advice far better than I can but I hope to bring something that's different.

You asked the following key questions:
where to find the audience to focus on
What product to offer to the market or to my audience
How do i create my own products
how do i launch it (Since i'm a newbie with no JV's or a List)

Give yourself PERMISSION to make mistakes. For me the one thing that's kept me from moving forward (and therefore, making money) is the inability to execute knowledge or to put it another way, I didn’t take 'MASSIVE action' after knowledge - I worried too much about dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't's. There will be a time when you realised that you've gone top-heavy in the learning and too thin in the doing. You know that you know 'too much' to move shift from park to first gear.

Why? Because all that information can be conflicting or disarming - in other words you know too much to convince yourself now that its just all too much, too overwhelming. If I could wind back my IM clock, here is what I would do BIG TIME from day one – maybe you can relate or agree or not:

I would study one thing and then put MASSIVE action into DOING that one bit of knowledge (and I don't even have to do it well). If you did this, it will give you an added advantage because by DOING you get to find out quickly what worked and what bombed. Now as soon as you find out, in that instance, you are freed from the shackles of 'knowing too much', you now move into first gear. Taking MASSIVE (even fumbling) action with what you know WILL make a massive difference to your experience, hence your IM income.

So in short: Not every shiny object needs to be picked up David. Just pick ONE up. Make money from it (or find out if its a dud, but find out quickly) then add to that bit of experience your next big thing that you want to do etc. Of course, you can do more than one thing at a time but if its going to bog you down again, just start from where you are at. Give yourself PERMISSION to make mistakes.

Just so you don't feel I haven't answered your key concerns, let me give my 5 cents worth: Your audience focus could be right here in the net - you find them in just about any search engine or offline (brick and mortar businesses etc).
Choose one product to start, just ONE (information or hard products) - but START (Clickbank etc or make one yourself or buy one - your product will define your audience)
There is a high chance of trial and error before you settle for what's working for you….or until.....the next WSO pulls you into the merry-go-round again, fight it!

Sorry this is long pal....actually I was telling myself more than you
    Go well!!

I remember when I first started. I too had so much trouble, but one thing for sure, if you can make one dollar online, you can make a million. All you need to do is find the one thing that works for you and upscale.

      Hey Sypherblade
I liked what you said - find something that works and then go and upscale it, in other words, take action to do MORE of it or maybe put some power juice into it by outsourcing it.
      Thanks dude!

Here's the tough decision you must take. You see all those courses and what have you that you have there? Pick ONE, one that you 'know' you can go all the way with. Go all the way out on that one. Following too many you'll be back here in a year, still wondering and wandering...(that's not a misprint there)

Well if you want to do business online you have to first think of what products you are going to sell and identify also if you have capital for it. Strategies can easily be learned.

It sounds like you have done all of your homework and you just need to put it all together. I was in the same boat a short time ago and I came across three brothers that have helped me put everything together. I suggest maybe you contact them and they can help you tailor your business, they have really helped me out.

STEP 1: Start simple… to paraphrase Shakespeare, don’t try and fix something that is not broken! Find a suitable business model which you are comfortable with and perfect it. Do not try and invent something new before you’ve learnt some fundamental skills.
STEP2: Find a Niche… Most people who don’t make money on the net try and find a product, and then the market to sell it to. Do the reverse- Find a market where people are buying, find a niche within the market, find a GOOD product and market to that audience looking for said product.
STEP3: Build a site, nothing fancy (remember step 1!) ideally a one page site, commonly known as a squeeze page. Make this site informative, content driven and useful. The site has only one purpose: to get a name and an email address.
STEP 4: Give away a free gift on this website in exchange for the above two details. This is normally an information product like an eBook. Make sure the gift is something of value, something practical. Get into the mindset of an over deliverer. Before you do anything, give, give and give
STEP 5: Once you have a mailing list, i.e. a collection of email addresses, send out emails every other day via an auto responder and nurture the relationship. Allow your list to have confidence in you and your service. Do not try and sell anything for the first 4 or 5 emails; remember time will either expose or promote you so don’t rush and build credibility.
At this point, believe it or not, you have an Internet Marketing Business. You hopefully have a loyal client base, to which you can not only up sell related products to that with which you started, but a group of people to conduct market research with. These people may in time be your colleagues and associates. Look after them.

“Rinse and repeat” this for any niche. Keep it small, secure a regular income and only then scale the process up. All that is needed now Is to learn the technical aspects, which are equally simple with the right guidance.
