How did you start earning money online?

What was you biggest stumbling block before you started making money?

Did you have some kind of "aha" moment which helped you overcome your stumbling block?

    Hello

Article marketing is a really great way to start. Hard work but almost instant cash. Find on CB a good selling product. Make a one page review site. And promote it on EZA.

And my biggest stumbling bock was: I've bought almost every "How to make money" ebook, video series almost everything, without taking real action.

So get a good system work hard on it get money then move on

    All the best,
    Adam

You misunderstood me. I'm not looking for tips, I just wanted to hear your story.

      But thanks anyway.

I started doing my first "big" money was selling a website that I SEO'd about 6 years ago for my grandpa in the real estate space. It ranked #1 for all his terms - and so I sold it for $6k. After that, I found the Warrior Forum and started soaking up everything here. Then, I did this: The Warrior Forum - Success Story: $9,800 in 24 hours - which was a very successful membership site.

6 months later, I launched another membership website. I've been having fun online every since, making money and doing the internet marketing "thang".

I started selling web development services to companies like Siemens Business Communications, Chrysler, P&G, and Reynolds & Reynolds back in the early 90s when this thing called the internet started making its way into the commercial sector.

Then I sold the company for $$ to a large marketing advertising publishing concern.

by offering free hosting services many years ago. It got a bit too expensive & is highly competitive. I got sick of it due to the barely breaking even factor after paying for hosting. Combine that with less revenue from adsense.

Back in 2000-01 I started buying a ton of traffic from the PPC SE's and sending it directly to affiliate programs. I got a check for $5k one month after spending 2k, and figured this was definitely a good way to make a profit.

Now the PPC markets are so flooded with people who don't even care about making a profit, it's a different game and I tend to focus more on SEO practices.

Many, many years ago, before I knew about "reviews", I wrote a review on a popular photo-sharing site. I included my referral link and started to get TONS of referrals. Eventually, I had the service pre-paid for 5 years. The owners eventually upgraded me to a life-time account for all the business I sent them.

And all I did was write an honest review of how the service helped me.

Safelists, FFA and mailers back in the late 90's. Also used to do general marketing at the same time.

I tried selling my old underwear like the strippers on ebay, for some reason that didnt work out to well.

I turned a short guide I wrote into a website and slapped some adsense ads on it. I learned more doing that and monetizing it going forward than I did reading a ton of forums.

    Mugil,

I started a looong time ago with an ebook on diskette called "eMarketing Success Guide". I accepted payment online and mailed them out. The file was to big for download back then (about 500mb).

Your biggest obstacle will be lack of focus. Find one thing to pursue and either become successful with it or hurry up and fail at it so you can move on to the next project.

If you're new - you have a LOT of reading to do!

I got started with an adult site in 1997 and I still own adult sites. I started in "mainstream" online about 3 years ago.

My biggest stumbling block before I made money was trying to figure out traffic and billing.

My aha moment came when I discovered newsgroups. I used them to promote my adult sites and got tons of traffic in the process.

My niece was putting AdSense on her site and making a decent amount of money for a high-schooler. So I thought I'd try it too. Soon I realized there wasn't money in AdSense. At that time my friend who knew nothing about IM and had no website of her own bought some mediocre quality "how to make money with ClickBank" e-book which basically told you how to set up AdWords account and send traffic into an affiliate link, and she started making $100-$200 a day in her sleep on her first day, while I struggled making a buck a day on AdSense with my blogger blog, so I signed up with CB. Then branched out to other affiliate networks, had a couple of subscription based sites built for me and created a few digital downloads that have been moderately successful.

  • I got started selling turnkey websites for eBay and Amazon as well as business websites. I kept a few of the eBay affiliate sites I created and started to market them via PPC.

I also joined other affiliate websites such as Commission Junction, LinkShare and Hydra to name a few and setup a few blogs to market some of their offers.

I then created a few blogs and flipped them at SitePoint for some decent money.

Now, I am creating my own products to sell and have other affiliates market for me.

Started by writing and developing my own blogs on subjects that I have great interest in (which made content creation that much easier) and monetizing them by using simple adsense ads to generate revenue at the same time. Very interested in traffic generation after that!

Ebay! Just like many, my first sales came from it. Back in the old days -- it was cakewalk to sell for good money. Also, learning html was cool. Too bad, these days ebay is the pitts -- and many don't sell as much on it.
