Need Help Analyzing Competition

Before I begin, I am a newbie, well Kinda I made a few Adsense sites getting about a $1 a day.

Question: In Market Samurai my chosen keyword has competition with tons of Backlinks for each, in the thousands. Most are going to their home page.

However, most of them do not have the keyword in their title, url, desc. or head and a few have one tag. Can I compete on keywords against pages like these?

Or will it be difficult to compete against thousands of Backlinks for a new site?

Thanks In Advance.

Really depends on what the keyword is.

If they do not have the keyword in their title or description then you could probably compete with them. Thing is, it doesn't really sound like they are too concerned with the keyword if they don't have it anywhere on their page. Just make sure you are competing for things that will bring you traffic!

Post the Market Samurai top 10 here with url/keyword blurred out, to give an idea of the numbers etc.

The total searches is 1,900 exact monthly and has an Adsense Competition rank of HIGH. There are other keywords I can use to create an overall site, but before buying domain and hosting, I want to make sure that I at least have a chance.

My Post count is too low to post a screen shot. I was wondering though, is there something better then Market Samuri?

I, too, would be worried about the fact that sites with thousands of backlinks have -for whatever reason- decided not to target these keywords. I would do a little more research to see if these keywords are really worth targeting.

For example: what is the CPC? is it at ten cents? if so, it may not be worth the hassle unless there are tens of thousands of searches that could result in clicks.

Also, is this competition targeting the same market as that keyword? If so, even though you may be able to rank decently, the fact that their entire site is related to that keyword may cause your site to be suppressed in the SERPs.

Make sure the CPCs are worth it before you begin.
