Phone Orders With PayPal

Hey Guys,

Can I enter a customer's credit card number myself through my PayPal link? Having a hard time finding out if this is OK with PayPal or not.

Thanks!

As far as I know, you need their Virtual Terminal - see under Merchant Services I think . .

    Crap ...

Can I enter orders through the normal "purchase" link? Is that against the TOS?

I'm pretty sure you can't do that on their behalf. Better ask PayPal themselves, they have a phone number on the website.

It is definitely against their TOS. I don't think it is against the actually law if you have the cardholders permission, but I would never try it. It would be hard to prove you had their permission, and if it ended up in dispute, or in a fraud claim, you could be in some legal trouble, or at the very least get your PayPal account frozen/canceled ... so, I couldn't recommend you try it.

To enter credit card orders manually, you need to signup for PayPal Virtual Terminal ... I signed up for it about a year and a half ago. It was $20.00 per month with the first month free, and transactions were at 3.1% instead of 2.9%. Within a couple of months they changed their price for it to $30.00 per month.

It worked great but I was not doing enough Phone CC business to justify the monthly fee so I eventually canceled the option.
