Do people get taken more seriously when they have a physical product?

I am trying to build a more traditional business when it comes to marketing products. I have one in the making, but I was thinking I might be more successful if I put it on a physical CD and market it that way. For some reason it seems people just respect this more and the refund rate seems to be lower. There are also other marketing mediums available if it is done this way, such as being able to use eBay and Google content network. What do you guys think.

I know on Ebay its the way to go - entire business models have been set up selling and reselling just cd's of existing internet "digital" products. Still I like the hard products too.

Yes, and you can ask a premium for this also, more so than for a normal PDF or downloadable product. You could do both of course, one being the "premium" version off course. Even amazon etc is doing it now, you can either get the real book or the kindle version... (I like having the real book, so I get the physical one)

I think it depends on who you are selling the product to. I know personally it is nice if I buy a product online I get that instant gratification of being able to read and see the product right away.

However, there are also people who would rather have the cd or a physical book. Obviously doing both helps to satisfy both crowds and as long as you don't pre-make the physical products there is no way of having a loss when selling them.

I would personally be annoyed buying an ebook and receiving it on a cd haha. But I agree to a certain extent, I would prefer and pay more to receive a physical book rather than an ebook. Though I would not take a product more seriously just because it's a physical product.

A physical product is easier to examine. It is easier to determine if it should be trusted or if it is of value. That is my opinion.

In general terms, a physical product has more perceived value, HOWEVER, it all depends on your positioning and your sales / video copy.

There are some markets where the demographics and buyers expect digital products and actually selling a physical product can hurt you. So it depends on a lot of factors.

Yes I think having a physical product adds to the trustability of a product.

I would say so. Why? Because it doesn't take much skill and effort when it comes to producing info products. Take a .doc file, save it as .pdf and sell it as eBook. However, it is much harder to produce an actual physical product.
