Solo Ad Results...How did I do?

I am a newbie to internet marketing and I have just placed my first solo ad:
These are my results
Paid $210 for 500 unique clicks
Received 572 unique clicks
182 clicked to subscribe
67 confirmed subscription
19 have unsubscribed
leaving me with 48 suscribers
I have since disabled my confirm subscription link on Aweber.

Are the results I have had good or bad and am I right or wrong to disable my confirm subscription link on Aweber.

Looking forward to your reply's..
Andy..

    hey andy

when you say 182 have subscribed do you mean they have opted in?

if i spend $210 on a solo ad i aim to make my investment back if not more

also if im paying for 500 clicks then i expect to get at least 150 - 250 subscribers (around 40 - 55% opt in rate)

out of those 182 you have obviously lost over 100 people because you are using double opt in (by the sounds of it)

i would change to single opt in too because that way you can include a OTO into your campaign which will make you back a lot of your investment and build your buyers lists

Like Paul mentioned you should be aiming to get 150 - 200 subscribers from a 500 click solo ad.

I wouldn't say you are wrong for changing to single opt-in as I recently done the same thing for that same reason (had a 100 click solo ad and 49 people opted in but only 25 double confirmed..it hurt me to see that lol)

Yeah double opt-in is a not something I do. The deficits far outweigh the benefits when building a list.

Another way to look at it is you just paid $4.37 per subscriber. I would say that is not cost-effective unless you can sell at least one of them a product that will pay for the solo ad.

You should defiantly be giving them an oto after they subscribe to try and regain your investment before even mailing your subscribers.

Thanks for all your messages and advise..I thought paying over $4 for each lead was a bit steep but I guess this like any business is a learning curve from the start. The key is to recognise the lessons and move on in a positive direction. Thanks again..
    What's an oto??

      one time offer

this is the offer that people will see after clicking the submit button on your squeeze page

i always recommend using oto`s they work like gangbusters if you set them up properly :-)

What Paul said. I aim for a 40% - 50% opt-in rate. At the end of the campaign I want to reached my BEP and made my money back. As stated, you can do this with otos and exit pop. All in all if you pay 1$-1.3$ per lead and make 0.70+ cents back - it was a good campaign in my book.

yeah luke, i use single all the time now

double, you just end up losing too many subscribers from my testing

You seriously get a 40 to 55% opt in rate in a solo mailing... That's ridiculous. How much do you split test your pages before sending the big money traffic to them?

ps. if you're the person i'm thinking of, i used to be in your SMS downline when i thought network marketing worked.

        What is going on here?

4.37$ per subscriber isn't bad at all. With someone on my list i usually average around 1.25% per month per subscriber. I would have this paid off in 4 months, and would have months of re-ocurring income. Not to mention the money you make on the initial offer which usually subsidizes the price of the mailing.

This is a business, remember that. Spending a little extra to make a lot more is what it's all about.

Then maybe you should build a really crappy opt in page, which will increase your cost per subscriber. Hey, this is a business after all. Spending a little extra is what it's all about, right?

$4.37 per lead for a solo isn't a good rate for me, especially considering that some marketers are selling double optin leads for less.

By the way Andy, your unsubscribe rate is really high. You should check what's wrong and fix it.

I also strongly recommend you to setup a funnel with oto's (one time offers) to monetize your future solo's.

Paul seems to have it down in his first post. You need to at the very least recover your investment. I would say your min is 30% Also I am not sure where you purchased you ad, Safe swaps is what I use. The reason being is that you can buy clicks on smaller lists and do a few of them and actually get more clicks than going to one big bulk provider. Good first step though.

We need to fail in order to succeed. Good on ya!

Another thing no one has mentioned so far is,
    Your high un-sub rate 19 un-subs from
A total of 69 subs is extremely high! That's almost
30% of your new list hit the unsubscribe button.

Im almost very sure it has to do with your offer.
What are you offering your traffic to sign up?

Remember when your buying traffic, you have
Got to make sure your stuff converts
And that your offer is a killer offer that
That people would gladly pay for.

I started using single opt-ins and will be using a oto offer as well. Is there a link at the bottom of the page that will say something like: "no thanks just send me to my free offer." and then make the link go to the free offer. Is that the way a OTO is set up?

I was wondering if a series of e-mails leading up to a paid offer would be more effective then a oto? If you could send the subscribers awesome value and then lead them to an offer that they feel they must have in order to proceed with their business.

Or perhaps an oto after subscribing and the same offer in a series of follow ups.

    What are your thoughts?

i did`t notice at first andy but yeah your unsubscribe rate is very high

you do have to be very careful when it comes to some solo ads because some solo sellers use bots and actually pay to have people fill out your squeeze page

there is a service that provides this

so just bare in mind things like these do happen, the solo ad world is very cut throat

saying that there are many top quality solo`s that send you great traffic that buys, you just have to fine them
