Buying WSOs, Translating Them To Other Languages & Selling Them...WTF?

Curso De CPA

This guy bought my wso, translated it to spanish and is now selling it for $37.

I have sent him an email but haven't heard anything back yet.

This is a first for me, how do I deal with this theft?

Have you tried hitting him up on skype? His skype ID is on his sales page.

If you know the username he purchased your WSO under, I'd report that to the help desk.

No doubt you can sue him.

I found a list of copyright Lawyers and Law Firms in Spain

If you not have done it already, make sure to take some screen dumps of the site he has.

Try to contact one of the lawyers and hear if you can make some sort of deal - I don´t know if they work like "no cure no pay", but since they seems to be specialized they should be able to give you a serious advice how hard it would be.

    Good luck!

I took screenshots before posting this. Apparently he's on here quite a bit since it was taken down about 5 minutes after I posted this.

So there's thieves amongst us I guess.

Where is he selling it? Usually you can contact the owner of the site and send them a DMCA. Go to the site owner or host, not the guy pirating the content.

How did you find out about his site? Seems like his site is down now.

Definitely consult with an attorney. I hope he gets punished!

    Good luck!

He emailed me and said he was sorry and took it down.

I have a lot of people that watch out for this kind of stuff for me and I thank the anonymous person who emailed me earlier today.

Well, that's a good ending to the problem.

Congrats! - an idea might also be to set up a few Google alerts. That way you would receive
notifications if some of your products keywords shows up in the future.

Perhaps you can turn it into a win/win situation - since the guy already made the translation, why not make a JV with him? ;-)

Or demand that he hand it over, then you sell it to the Spanish IM community! Double your product!

        Don't know if I'd want a "win/win" situation - think I'd prefer "win/loose" (you win - he looses).

You should just let him do it (keeping your name in there) and take a cut... It is like a whole other market! Not a bad idea if he hadn't stolen it and just asked for permission...

    I have a question:
When someone produces a written product, does not copyright it, sells it as a WSO and someone reproduces and sells it as their own, what recourse does the original author, like in the case of PPC-Coach have?
Is there any type of intellectual property protection to fall back on?
If there is not we need to take heed.

Everything is copyright the minute you write it even if you do not register it or put a copy notice on it. It gets more complex but that is the gist of it anyway. but be prepared to prove you are the owner if you do not register it.

Copyright is inherent. You don't have to DO anything to copyright a product.

A lot of people won't want to hear this, but if someone steals your eBook and starts selling it as his own there's not much you can do if the person is outside of your country. (hell even in your own country).

The time and money required to fight the case in court over a $37 product isn't worth it unless your trying to do it based on principle. Unless of course the guy is selling thousands of dollars worth of your product. Then it might be worth the trouble, but sadly its part of doing business online. Someone is always going to copy your work and try and make money off it. Best thing you could do is probably get in contact with their hosting provider and tell them they are selling copyrighted content and get their website taken down.

Other than that its just better to move on and work on more important matters.

  • They did EXACTLY the same with my WSO. Also people from Colombia.

Here's the site of the guy who stole your WSO PPC Coach: Ganar Dinero | Como Ganar Dinero | Gana Dinero

Although the sales page site is down, the purchase page is still active on this sub-domain:

sites.fastspring.com/ganadineroconmry/ (I hid the actual payment URL, for obvious reasons.)

There seems to also be a PayPal account attached to this person. I would go after his payment processing. PayPal would not like him using their service to collect money on stolen goods.

WOW! I wouldn't waste my time to sue but I would demand them to take it down and keep at them contacting their host.

Good luck..People have no morals these days. I would not refund them either lol.

Although this guy is an idiot for doing that, you could instead look at this as an opportunity. He has obviously gone through and translated your course and Spanish is one of the biggest languages in the world.

There could be an opportunity to work with this guy and spread yourself into another market.
