QUICK amazon question - I need help please

Hello fellow warriors,

I have a question regarding amazon:

I am in canada and want to promote us products to us citizens - I have a niche website that is already #1 and getting lots of targeted traffic for my review blog (targeting and ranked for the states) and it's time to monetize it - I was using clickbank however I think it wont hurt if I drop a few amazon products into the mix

there is amazon.ca and amazon.com

should i sign up as an affiliate for amazon.com or amazon.ca ?

if i sign up for the amazon.com site - which is the states i believe - will i still get paid for my affiliate sales being canadian?

anyways that is my question - any help is much appreciated

I'd sign up for Amazon in your country, shouldn't matter where the buyers come from if your affiliate link is embedded.

I disagree with this. I live in the UK and approximately 85-90% of my traffic (Amazon or otherwise) comes from the USA, so I would sign up for an American account.

Only if the people in the states are buying from amazon.ca (not likely)

        Hey Mitchell!

Sign up for both. .ca sucks in comparison to .com, but you still get some Canadian visitors to your site.

If you are using Wordpress add an Amazon link localizer plugin to your site. That way - assuming .ca actually has the product, they will be sent to .ca and your US visitors will be sent to your .com link.

Yes, you'll get paid by cheque. Doesn't matter where you live, what matters is which Amazon site the buyer goes through. If your traffic is mostly Americans, they will buy from Amazon.com; therefore you need to sign up with Amazon.com.

Be upfront and put two links one for US visitors and one for Canadians. Why lose out on sales? As long as you don't pepper your site with links your visitors will hardly mind and in fact will even appreciate that you pointed them to the correct website.

Hi Mitchell another option you may have is to use a link localizer for your site. This way you would be able to capture traffic for both, provided products are available on all Amazon sites.

I you do not want to go that method, then you can easily sell Amazon.com products and get paid. I am in the UK and receive my checks monthly like clockwork Nice postman!!

Yes you would need to sign up as an affiliate for both places. I signed up for a variety of places, France, Germany, UK, Canada etc and each has its own sign up.

Then I use a plug in to localize and dish up the appropriate Amazon links depending on where the potential customer is coming from.

One thing you can do is put StatCounter on your site and see where the majority of your visitors are coming from and be sure to dish up the appropriate links.
