Is Article Marketing Dead?

I remember when article marketing was the "bum marketers" way to easily pump cash out of their website. Now, with all these google algorithm updates...article marketing seens "old-fashioned". Or is it?

Article marketing is NOT dead. It is actually flourishing on every site that has a blog and lots of traffic.

What did get killed off was article directory marketing. Using sites like ezinearticles and goarticles to submit your articles and magically get sales.

I loved ezinearticles and used to use it every day to get sales. But it's not nearly as effective anymore.

Before I dive into the reason why article marketing isn't dead and how you can use it to help your site get more traffic, let me define article marketing (It's not what you think).

When you submit your article to multiple (hundreds or thousands sometimes) of article directories you are not article marketing. You are article DIRECTORY marketing. And while article directory marketing can get you links (very low quality) it takes lots of time and has little return on investment. You basically have to submit many articles and cross your fingers hoping for sales.

Real article marketing is easier, takes less time, and can give you consistent, predictable results if you do it correctly.

What Is Article Marketing?

It basically is when you write articles and post them on other websites to market your site (while providing value to the readers). It has other names like guest posting and content syndication. But it's all article marketing.

When you go out and actively ask others to post your articles you are in full control over the results.

If you get your article placed on a high traffic, buyer-hungry website you could get thousands of visitors to your website and buy from you.

Using ezinearticles and other directories and hoping someone will pick up and use your article on your site is "wishing on a star". Yes, there are ways to be successful at it. But they're not easy and the results will never be as good as if you took control over your article marketing.

To make sure your article is accepted and gets maximum results, be sure:

1. It has a catchy and interesting title

2. It provides useful, informative content

3. It is unique and not a piece of duplicate content

4. It leaves your readers wanting more content from you (and thus clicking the link on your resource box)

Your article is basically a virtual salesman. The "sell" you are aiming for is getting your visitors to click on your resource box. A lame article will get few, if any clicks.

If this stuff you speak of actually worked I'm sure we would hear about it all the time. Surely it must be some kind of underground thing.

Hi fin, i wouldn't say that it's really underground. It's the same thing as guest posting and content syndication (Except you control the syndication by actively trying to get your articles posted on new blogs). It's a great way to get more links and help with SEO as well...although I do it more for the traffic and to build a list.
