Merge my two websites/similar business?

Hello.

I have owned a home remodeling website for around a year and it is ranking fairly well where I would like it to. I also just set up a handyman website and this business is killing it only two months in. (doing well).

I would like to just have the handyman business and get rid of the home remodeling business. I would like to do what I can to use the remodeling website to "help" the handyman website.

They have very similar search terms "bathroom remodeling" "kitchen repairs" "painting". You get the picture.

What would be the best way to turn all my guns on the handyman site. I have been reading about 301 redirects but I want to do this right. The companies have different names.

My remodeling site is a page rank 3 and my handyman is a big fat 0 so far.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Why exactly would you want to kill the first one if they are both doing well?

Sorry, I'm just a little confused. Why not continue both and have that much bigger of a market share?

Same thoughts with mike here, why are you giving up on the first one, it has a fair domain age, it is ranking good and it is earning quite well. The what problem are you dealing with having 2websites that are playing well?...

I would also keep them. The more real estate you have on the net in general, the more aged websites, the more you can interlink, the better your rankings, etc etc.

    Especially if they're related websites.

Thanks for the replies! The first website is ranking fairly well. The problem is I don't really care for the business model of the full remodeling company. I guess I made it sound like it was making a bunch of money but this not totally true. It ranks well but I'm just not selling the jobs.

I have made more money with the handyman business in the last 3 months than for the entire year with the remodeling company. The remodeling company is all focused on the suburbs...long drive for me. The handyman is right here in the downtown where folks aren't afraid of my prices.

So basically my problem is with the off site business rather than the website itself.

Should I just keep the site and link to it with my other site? Even though they are very similar sites they are two totally different models. The handyman is much more manageable and way more profitable.

Thanks again for all the replies!
