XsitePro Users? What Do You Use It For?

Hi Warriors,

I am an xsitepro user and love the software, but how many here actually use xsitepro?

What do you use it for??

Do you do your own designs of headers and footers etc.?

I ask, as I have been using it for a while now and find it a great piecxe of kit for websites. I have even built many local business websites with it and they are so search engine friendly, its untrue! So which warriors use it and how do you use it?

GoGetta

P.S If you have never heard of xsitepro, go look it up on Google, powerful stuff!

i have used xsite pro for both my blackhat and whitehat sites but i do not like the themes that comes with it . One needs to get it done in dreamweaver .I like the tool though .The internal link structure is its plus point .Lookwise i will not give i more than 5 ona scale of 10 .

Yes I agree on the design side. The built in templates are dire but with a little design in PS, such as a header and a footer, it can change dramatically!

I like it because I can build sites and update sites quickly.

I use some of their templates which aren't all that brilliant but when you want to put a quick site up they come in handy until you've got time to design your own. I've designed some with Fireworks and some using the XSitePro built in design features.

Something that I've just found really useful is the RSS feed validator. I had added feeds to one of my sites from my travel article directory and found that there were errors in the feeds. The validator told me exactly what they were and where to find them to repair them. The errors were caused by some of the punctuation (.... and -) in the article summaries - something for article marketers to be careful with. I wouldn't have known what was causing the feed problems if not for XSitePro, though I did know that punctuation in titles can cause broken links.

Wow Patricia awesome! I never knew it did things like that! Do you design all of your graphics yourself of have them custom designed?

I didn't know about the validator until just before I logged on here.

I have a hotchpotch of graphics, some designed by myself, some come with themes. As my design skills are limited I'm thinking of outsourcing to make improvements on my sites.

I've used XSitePro for many sites, and have also started using Wordpress. I have to say, I find that many of my XSitePro sites reach good search engine positions and tend to hold them (when coded correctly). My Wordpress sites need constant content to keep them in the SERPs.

I love XSitePro. It's fantastic for getting stated with content sites. I have also had some success with it using it as an online directory, again because of the SEO features.

Swiftdeal, I agree 100%. My search engine ranking for XsitePro sites are always huge. Some are still sat up there now without a change or edit in 9-10 months! Powerful stuff!

I suppose my next question would be? Would you benefit from a site with predesigned headers for blogs and xsitepro sites in all niches? When I first started using xsitepro I was always on the lookout for headers, and could never find any at a decent price!

I think that would be a good idea. That's why Paul Smithson brought out Xheader. It's ok, and gives the non-graphic webmasters something to use to get going.

I've played with it and it does have some half decent headers in there, but for my purposes, I've tended to outsource the graphic design so that I get something unique (see my main site and blog for an example).

If I'm in a hurry, I've uploaded a "raw" XSP template and added some content just to get a domain / site indexed whilst I develop the correct graphics.

Ok, thanks for the response swift! I was just wondering as I have a bank of headers for xsitepro that are custom designed but have never had use for them, so I was wondering what general warriors used xsitepro for and if a predesigned header and footer site woul be a good idea! Maybe it will!

I know it would of helped me out at the time and in various situations! But it depends on the amount of xsitepro users really! Or I suppose a header could be useful with many web editors, no?

I think it's a definite possibility, especially for XSP users who use it to pump out content sites. There is plenty of competition, though, but if your designs are of a high quality, then you may do well.

Do you have an example you are willing to share with us?

        Gogetta,

I use Xsitepro to design all of my sites, and my client's sites. When I first started using Xsitepro (I have used both versions) I was looking for header designs that I could purchase to use with the program so that I could create customized sites without having to outsource to a graphic designer...but the ideal solution would be for me to be able to design my own professional looking header in xsitepro. I wanted this so that I could start a web designing business and increase my profit margin by doing the header/footer myself (of course I would have to outsource the work if I needed a completly customized template).

I did not want to go through learning how to use photoshop, so when Paul Smithson came out with Xheader, it was exactly what I needed. I love Xheader! I don't use the templates that are in there, I create my own design and format it to fit with the size of my site in xsitepro. It's very easy to create a professional looking design in Xheader, change the size and width of the header/footer to fit the size of your template in xsitepro and easily insert it into your xsitepro template for a perfect professional fit.

Another thing I have done is used one of the xsitepro templates, take out the graphics that were already in there, and inserted a design that I created in xheader - you would never have known because everything fits perfectly.

Something else I had done was copied one of the xheader templates into gimp, cut out one of the pictures in the header, uploaded that picture into xheader and added my own words/pictures etc. for a customized header design.

Another thing to keep in mind is that xheader is free to download.
