[XMAS] Are you getting ready your $$$ sites for the rush yet?

Without sounding as though it is already here, how is everyone getting ready for the Christmas online rush this year???

Offers?
Vouchers?
241?
BOGOF?
Blah Blah?

Obviously you only have 2 occasions to take advantage of the *extra* we are bored at home and spend more $$$ and time on line visitors... what are you going to do to make your Xmas "Sales" extra $pecial

I don't normally sell Christmas products to consumers, but I do sell holiday packages to sellers and affiliate marketers.

There are several holidays where things don't change too much, but christmas is different. I spend a lot of time doing research into what the "hot" toys are going to be, but there is a lot of timing involved.

In other words, it's a bit early for the stuff I do, but not too early for others to start positioning themselves.

    All the best,
    Michael

p.s. The Santa is cute but he has got to go. He's giving me a headache.

It's never too early to plan. Some advertising venues have 6-10 month lead times. And of course, always consider promotions for prepping your subscriber lists for this and other seasonal events.

    lol @ the dancing santa...

This is actually a good idea.

I created a website last August for X-mas 2011 (mychristmasgifts2011.com), targeting the KW "Christmas gifts 2011".

Did some light SEO in Sept and Oct.

By late Novemeber, this site was pulling in $900+ a week in Amazon and Adsense earnings.

There are also a ton of sub-niches you can target... Xmas gifts for moms, dads, boys, girls, etc.

Also, you can pick out popular gifts and build Squidoo lenses promoting those.

Possibilities are truly endless if you start early

Hey Tony, great info here, I was thinking to do something similar this year.

PS: I checked your site out, really good stuff there as well

Getting things up an running is one of the keys to cashing in on holidays. You need to be on the radar BEFORE people start looking.

However, if you can get your site indexed quickly, you can wait longer. In fact, I have had customers of my Holiday Hot Lists buy packages a week or two before Christmas, and they were still able to make sales.

      All the best,
      Michael

I am planning to set up a Christmas Authority site so it won't just target a specific year. Then I'll add some adsense and hot amazon Christmas gifts.

    Or Halloween.

Strange thing is when the products come out (teaching people how to make sites for seasonal events) it's almost too late already.

Just had a quick look and sites like Tomy UK Official Site who make toys and baby products have an email list that'll let you know about product launches and special offers.

Haven't targeted holidays yet but it is definitely something I want to get into and I often hear there's a lot of profit to be had on holiday sites. But yeah, timing is key and you have to prepare well in advance. Earlier than one would think.

    • My big-money site is Amazon. Fortunately, it's not my job to get it ready for the holidays. :p

I am, however, listing inventory like crazy. Last Christmas I sold out of toys and jewelry and probably missed some sales. This year, watch out world.

Okay, who's giving WSOs for Christmas this year?

In internet marketing XMAS for me is about two things:

    1.Celebrate

2.lots and lots of high converting special offers & value to promote.

I don't sell anything personally on XMAS, But affiliate marketing goes wild around that time..

    WOOO!

What a great selection of replies to the thread!

All I can say is, this is what makes the WF so cool at times...

Have read every single reply in full and then read them again, some superb input and positive stuff going on above already!

To save multi-quoting the thread and making it cluttered (think it can only get busier as XMas comes!) I will summarise what seems to be the busiest ideas...

Amazon Niche Sites - targeting presents, gifts, ideas & most wanted
Squidoo Lenses - rock solid content, unique towards *something* to do with xmas
List Promos - hitting your current list with upcoming seasonal offers (excellent!)
Targeted Adsense - EMD, full of Xmas keywords with some seasonal adsense ideas
Toys, toys & toys! - researching the potential best seller toys, pop up some landers!

Celebrate! - something we should all do with loved ones, family and friends

Anymore for anymore... maybe we should put up an early "pre-xmas" site, break down all the warriors that come up with ideas for it, give each a page and see what works the best.. sort of Xmas hamper club for warriors without the hamper!

Currently we are running a summer sale and it's working better than we'd hoped :-) Gotta like that! We have been talking about a fall sale and then something for Christmas. Because our product doesnt sell well in the winter (we are in Canada) we need to come up with something good to attract customers. Gift certificates havent worked well in the past but maybe they will this time!

Without going to deep into details and giving myself away, I actually operate a Christmas specific niche (under a pen name, so don't go looking for Joe's Christmas site lol). This will be the first holiday season running it though, so I'll have to see what I put in to make things special. It's about the only niche I expect things to actually pick up on at the end of the year.

The holiday season seems to bring about a slow down in many niches, and I'm actually hoping for that. I could use some more time for my personal projects lol.

I give special discount to my existing clients. I offer price reductions or a special Christmas package.
I may do a FREE WSO over the Christmas period too but I don't plan on selling any Christmas products though per say.
