Kindle Owners - Question

INTERNET MARKETING

Hi Gang,

I was over at Amazon looking at the Kindle reader... which is a
sweet looking device.

My question: What format(s) does the Kindle use?

Basically I was wondering if they were pdf, and whether or not
the Kindle can import/export pdf files to and from a PC.

From what i understand, it does not inherently support PDF. You need to have it converted and "sent" to the Kindle for a fee of $0.10 per ebook. Or you can have it converted to Kindle format, then emailed to you for free at which point you can transfer it via USB.

From what I've gathered, it uses .Mobi format and very basic HTML.

  Hold off on getting one for now.
  
  There's a new version coming out soon, and maybe there will be better file compatibility.

  where did u get info about new one coming out soon? I might need to ebay my kindle asap then lol
  
  btw you can convert the pdf file on your own using adobe acrobat, just convert it to txt and you will be able to read it on your kindle. The onle problem is that the pic wont shows up since it was .txt
  
  I never tried the 0.10 conversion, but could anyone tell if the picture will shows up on this one?

  Any idea of how many Kindles have been sold? It seems very "cool but unnecessary", the kind of thing that would not sell well in a slow economy.

  It has its place. My fiancee brings hers on the subway with her so she can read while commuting to and from work. The main problem for her is all the people curious about it!
