Converting SPAM into gold...

Just a small tip:

I have several blogs which are 50% automatic(article content, RSS content, etc.), and 50% manual(my articles).

I get spam, lots of spam, people say install ant-spam plugs(askimet etc), I say NO.

When I receive a spam comment I check if its 100% spam(like no text ot irrelevant text) I delete it, but many times I get spam comments full of good content, for example when I get to my weight loss blog spam like:
Loved your blog, I recently lost 40lbs using a great system that teaches you bla bla bla... check it out on my site...

I edit the comment, I delete the links, change the name(usually the name is a keyword to the spammer site) and remove the site addres, sometimes I add to the comment some words, sometimes I leave it.

That creates 1-2 new comments a day! for each blog.

And if somebody leaves a genuine comment which you think is spam?

IMO - For the amount of effort involved in editing spam comments I think you'd be better off writing your own... Just add a few hoplinks for the URL's. I personally don't don't comment on my own blogs (it's like writing testimonials for your own product), but many bloggers do it.
