Ok warriors, I need a wee bit of help here. I have a friend of mine who is competing in a triathlon to raise money for leukemia and lymphoma research. The people organizing this event have given him a page on their site with links to make donations. It also has a profile on him, as well as why he's doing it, etc. Here's my question: How would you promote this page? I told him I'd try to help send some traffic his way to raise some money. Just curious as to what would be the best way to do it? I'm thinking: Articles Press Releases Bookmarking Interview on BTR Any other ideas? What would you do? Thanks! |

Video marketing = great way to get exposure Then of course make sure you bookmark the videos forums and social groups are always a good idea. Especially Facebook because you can join a bunch of groups that are about exactly what you're talking about. And twitter is good too ![]() I hope this helps |

Could your friend find out which hospitals / centers benefit from the charity he's entering the triathalon for and target the media in those areas. Another thing your friend could do is find a load of viral funnies, new ones etc. If you could package them into a viral report or something that he could host on his page with a link to his page in several prominent places. He could start by emailing that to his friends and asking them to forward the 'joke' book on. One thing that does spring to mind is to try and come up with a campaign or a slogan aournd his money raising. Something that will catch peoples interest. The more professional it can look, the more people tend to want to give. |

+1 on Facebook for this. Make a Facebook page for it and join a related group or two to promote the FB page. |

For that type of event, your probably best do a full PR campaign. - Local news paper - Local Radio - Online Pr Also, posting in related forums would be another great method. |

There are tons of ways to promote nonprofit organizations or causes online for zero cash -- in fact, social media has really opened up a world of possibilities for nonprofits in terms of building their communities and connecting with donors. Here are our suggestions: Set up a blog with updates on his tri training, and why he's taking part Set up a Facebook group for donors and supporters Set up a special Twitter account that enables people to get the latest updates Set up a YouTube channel with handmade videos of training days -- maybe an interview or two with people he knows are affected by these illnesses Connect all these things together and cross-link up a storm! Write a press release (ask the organization he's running for if they have guidelines or templates or contacts) and send it out to local papers, local tv stations, local foundations who are known to support health causes. Post fliers in local running stores/gyms/community centers with tear off email and URL tags. It's offline, but it works. |
