I heard some discussion that google won't rank youtube videos on page one for some keywords. Is this true? If so, Does anyone know of a way to identify which ones?

I've never heard that one. If anything Youtube ranks a little easier than most things

Of course a lot of things wont rank on page one for a lot of terms... Simply because the competition is just too hard

There is no logic for this. While you can check to see if the Top 10 SERs for a given keyword doesn't contain any videos, this doesn't mean Google won't rank a video in the Top 10, only that is hasn't.

Google is only part of the traffic you can get to a video. There's also the Youtube search engine (now the second biggest on the Net), as well as internal traffic from Youtube.

Because of the above, put up a video and see if it will rank in Google. If it doesn't, there's other was to get traffic to it.

Yes and that the only real way to find out is to make a test video and check it out for yourself.

Something that I have learned over the years here at the WF is that quite a lot of people come in here state that you "can't" do something or you definitely "can" do something but with Google, there are so many variables that you will never know if you will get the same results unless you try it yourself.

Too many people only think of half of the situation when it comes to Google and that can really screw you up if you only rely on half of the information.

If someone says "hey I did this and my site went up in rank" doesn't necessarily mean that there site moved up because of something they did. I have seen plenty of cases where your site will go up because the other sites around you have done something to cause their sites to go down.

Get all of the info you can here about it and then go test the things that sound the most logical to you. You never know, you might discover something that nobody here knew about.

Yep...And Google may rank videos for a particular keyword today, but not tomorrow. And it may not rank a video today, but will tomorrow.

All we can say with certainty is that if you don't create a video for that keyword phrase, it won't rank for sure.
