Why Doesn't my Site do Better?

I've got this site:

sydneypahire dot com

I hire out sound equipment. I'm #1 in Google for "PA Hire Sydney" which is the most popular term. The Google Keyword too say that terms gets 440 local searches per month.

I've put a ton of work into the site. It think it does all the right things:

-It's got a story
-It's customer focused
-It's got a good guarantee
-There's an offer & clear call to action
-It's benefit driven
-It's different to the competition
-It's got awesome testimonials (which I know from Analytics people are reading)
-The pricing is competitive

I get about 400 unique visitors each month. Of that about 200 are local & therefore potential customers. I get about 2 new customers a month so my conversion is around 1%.

It's OK. I have a fair bit of work but I just thought it should be more. Sydney is a city of 4 million people. It just doesn't seem like a lot.

They say that the #1 site in Google gets 40% of the traffic. For the search term "PA Hire Sydney" I get 20 clicks per month. Theoretically I should be getting 40% x 440 = 176.

Love to hear peoples thoughts.

Lee.

    Hey Lee!

You site has got everything... perhaps a little bit too much!

I would personally take your testimonials out and put them in a new page or add them to another. That way, it would be slightly less cluttered!

The only other thing I would do is move the price down the page because you have to sell on features and benefits and then get to the price...not "the price is and for the you get..."

Try some testing too...move things around and see what happens?

Hope that is useful feedback Lee?

    Llwyddiant!

Emphasize specific calls to action for both. Put your phone number somewhere prominently with a big "Call Us." Sames goes for email.

Less clutter is a great idea too.

I would probably have some bands on the front page, and ask a question to draw people in.

Do you know what these groups have in common? something like that, that leads people into reading the site.

I would also create a youtube video to draw people in. something funny. I don't know what's popular in your country, but for the states i would use something like that characters from southpark in the audience, probably crickets sounds for a sound system thats not hooked up correctly.

you could have a lot of fun with a project like this.

Your site is fine if you want to put people to sleep.

The site is about as easy to navigate as the bermuda triangle.

You want a design that drives eyes to where they need to be. IE Info > Product > Solution > Contact, Or something like that. You then need to throw up a quote form that gets slammed in their face.

Just use aweber and tell them they get a free quote plus a 10% discount if they contact you using the form. Remember to keep it simple stupid. Customers are like those dumb sheep that get herded around by those cool dogs. You need to tell the customer where he/she needs to be.

It;s like the major retail chains and super markets. They know exactly where they want you. Your site has no confidence. It's almost like you are fumbling to give them what you think they want.

Slam it in their face! Trust me!

If your looking for PA Hire Sydney, that is what you want. You dont want no jazz about "Hi Im Lee and Im into baking cookies...." They just want to hire you and all you need to do is show them what they want and then make them give you their money.

It's just got too much text on it.

It's all over the place and looks messy.

If there is traffic but little conversions, maybe make it more of a funnel. Add a little mystery instead of giving it all away right away.

Too much of text will bore the reader and they might not be interested to explore further which in-turn you loose your target audience. Readers should get engage with the content on your page, so make it more crispier than giving a lot at one scoop.

You shouldn't be looking for 'trophy keywords' getting to the top for a single term is not the way to make a great website.

Try targeting long tail terms, even if they have only 10 searches a month for example, they should be easy to rank for!

Most of my traffic come from longtail, last month from 1,328 keywords....

    Also a few more suggestions:

Center your site, put your container div to margin:auto.

    Declutter it.

You need a bigger call to action, I can't see your phone number without clicking or scrolling.

Personally I would have some text at the top and instead of my products in the sidebar I would have a grid layout and have them in the main body, then move the testimonials to the sidebar.

Do those things and it'll be a good start

    Ricky
