This simple product went viral overnight

I have recently started creating products for a particular niche and paid thousands of dollar to have my products created by Elance contractors.

Instead of paying someone else to create products for me, I decided I would try to create my own. The informational product I created took about a week to develop, I sent it to my 10,018 member email list, and 189,537 copies have been distributed World wide within the past two days.

I think the trick to my success in going viral was that I gave away the product, but I also have paid products offers strategically placed within the copy. I will know if that sells part of the process is working in a few days, and I will keep you posted.

If any of you warriors would like to look at what I am offering and make suggestions, you advice will be appreciated.

    Marv,

What program did you use to create the PDF?

I like the idea very much. I hope it goes good for you.
I noticed your link on page two "purchase the raw PNG files" is broken.

I used MS Word to create the document, and when I was complete I used Adobe Acrobat X Pro to convert the document into a PDF file.

Cool idea. One thing I thought of (maybe I missed it) is to put a call to action towards the end. Send them to an opt-in page so that you can send them future editions as you add more signs, etc. Keep building that list.

      Thanks Lance,

That's a great idea, I am assuming I will have to include a link that sends the users to my Opt-In page - Right?

Correct. I'd put it in a box with a different font and/or background color to draw attention to it. Then just add some copy as to why they should sign up for your update list and present them with the link.

        P.S.
You could probably work an affiliate link in there for laminating machines. It would be a natural fit IMO. It might not be a huge earner, but you could very well make a few easy sales just by adding a link (either a direct affiliate link or a link to a page where you review & compare some different models).

Your link is still broken... Just a reminder.

            Thanks Bokva,

Since I am out of town on business, I will not be able to fix the link for a day or two.

Again, thanks for the heads up.

Interested to hear how this goes for you as far as the backend upsells and such.

Looking forward to updates Marv. The viral aspect is pretty impressive already.

This strategy has been around for years but it works and it works well.

    Provide good quality content
Embed some sales opportunities into the content
Send some seed traffic to the content - (your list in this case)
Provide the opportunity to share the content - share buttons, call to action, incentives etc
Sit back and watch it go!!
