Question regarding linking from YouTube

All,

What are the rules regarding linking from YouTube videos? (with regards affiliate marketing)

Is it possible to link directly to Amazon products from a video (with the affiliate tracking code in the link), or does one need to link to another site, where the customer then clicks onwards to Amazon?

Thanks in Advance

    Hey,

I am not aware of any rule against the use of Affiliate links, however i have seen a lot of channels taken down who used affiliate links in their videos and in the description beneath it. They were not given a reason for the termination of their account, but it was terminated non the less. I cannot see any other reason why they would be banned, so i would recommend staying away from them. However in other circumstances i have used clickbank links in videos, and they have been up for a few months.

If you do try it, i recommend making a new account for each video, therefore if 1 account gets banned for this reason, you wont lose all your videos and links.

    To your success,
    -Michael

You can add links from your YouTube channel and in your video's description to go to an affiliate link. YouTube is great for promoting affiliate products.

YouTube has even added "stores" for some channels where you can offer affiliate products straight from Amazon itself (as well as Cafe Press and a few others)! But...haven't seen that on everyone's channels yet...

I just read Michael_Lee's post. I wonder if some of the problems stemmed from not using original content? Or spamming? I am not aware of any rules against linking to affiliate offers...here's a great article on it as well: http://www.sitepronews.com/2010/11/0...keting-weapon/

I think the key is to make great videos. If your content is great and you are adding value to the YouTube community with the products/services you are offering you should be fine. If you are just out there using other people's content and spamming people...well...YouTube doesn't like that

Yeah as i said i do not know if the links were the actual reason these channels were taken down, my own videos have been up for a long time without any issues so you should be fine, but i would still recommend making different accounts unless the videos are linked together. You can never be too careful!

Ideally you want to list your own affiliate site and NOT any Amazon affiliate links. Affiliates have gotten in trouble by putting in their direct links.

Thanks guys. I think it's worth posting directly to Amazon on a fresh account. What have I got to lose?
