What type of ads should I use?

I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to websites and things, but a couple of days ago I decided to put adsense on my blog, just so I could maybe get a couple of extra bucks. When I was configuring my ads, it gave me the option too use: Text ads, text and image/rich ads, image rich media ads. Is there a huge difference between these? Will one attract more clicks than the others? I'm grateful for any answers.

    Text ads tend to convert best....Do a Google search for "adsense heatmap" to get an idea on optimizing your placement.

    That heatmap isn't for every site, right? Because apparently where I put my add, right sidebar, will get hardly any clicks
