Is aweber mandatory double opt-in?

I was doing some research and stumbled upon some older threads that were discussing integration issues with aweber due to their mandatory confirmed optin.

I looked through awebers knowledge base, but couldn't see if this was true or not. I can't imagine it is? Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me?

no you have the option of doing single opt in

ive been using single opt in for a while now and it works fine for me

using single opt in is also a must when it comes to using certain paid traffic methods so that you can use OTO`s straight after the opt in

Paul is spot on. I just set up another Aweber account 2 days ago and I'm fully single-opt in for the lists I'm starting to build.

You can absolutely do single opt-in - but be sure to watch your complaints. If you get even a couple when your list is small, you run the risk of getting dinged by Aweber. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they force you into double opt-in if you get a lot of complaints. If your list is less than 100 - even 2 complaints would be considered "a lot" (2%).

If you start seeing complaints in your stats - review the content of your first autoresponder message. Are you reminding them that they asked for the info? Consider adding details about where (what web site) and when they signed up. Those fields can be selected in the Aweber email composition window.

Single opt-in is the only way to go. Aweber warns you that you could get complaints and blah, blah, but this isn't true. You just get all your leads. : )
