Prospecting New SEO Clients
Let's pretend you're in the following SEO- related situation below, please share what you would do.
You're an seo freelancer and you've decided its time to get your own clients. You currently have a few employers that you freelance for but you want to scale things up and prospect your own clients. You have a modest seo portfolio of sites that you have ranked on page 1of google and a few other accomplishments but nothing huge.
For prospecting tools you are currently using the following:
Blog posts, whitepapers and quotes from the leading authority figures in SEO like Matt Cutts (Even if you don't like the guy, most prospects will feel more comfortable trusting you if you reference what the experts have to say.
Case studies - You have a list of case studies detailing before and after implementation plans related to seo, etc.
In addition to these 2 tools, I want to create some sort of free educational seo related course that is geared to provide valuable information that prospects can apply on their own, but at the same time using it as a sales tool to generate leads. Does anyone have any recommendations on this?
Also I am open to other tools or methods to get prospects.
All help and feedback is appreciated.

Re: Prospecting New SEO Clients
Have you thought of offline marketing. Try this, buy a paper and write down all the business cards size ads and bigger and call them, tell them your thinking of doing free coupon site for your city to get more involved there instead of shopping outside the city limits.
Get some great interview questions and since your on the subject about internet then asks them questions in relation to your expertise, tell them how to do things better, yes give your secrets away. I bet you anything if you repore with them that when the interview is over they will ask if you can do it for them and how much.
Some of those ads in the paper in larger cities cost upwards of thousands, even the smallest ads are over 500, I know because I advertise.
If they can understand that 97 percent of the people now search online for businesses instead of yellow pages or other means, they will be more than willing to use your services.
