Socialize your PDFs - Here's exactly how...

Hey everyone,

A lot of us use free PDF reports to build our lists and I think it'd be great if we could use the same PDFs to bring in more traffic back to your sites.

A happy subscriber/customer is the best salesperson for your product. But the problem is how to get them to drive more traffic to your site.

So here's a way to make your PDF reports social by integrating social sharing icons right into your PDF.

I'm gonna list down instructions for Microsoft Word, but the same would apply for OpenOffice if you use that.

1. Get a Twitter icon and Facebook icon image (you can use Google image search for the same). Make sure they are very small in size - say, 5px or something

2. In your PDF's header (or footer) insert the images

3. Click on the Twitter image, and click the 'chain link' icon to make it a hyperlink. In the URL, enter this URL:

twitter (dot) com/intent/tweet (dot) text=This is a test

(make sure you add the http in beginning - I can't post URLs yet). You can replace "This is a test" with your own text and even insert a full URL back to your site).

4. Click on the FB image, and click the 'chain link' icon to make it a hyperlink. In the URL, enter this URL:

facebook (dot) com/share (dot) php?u=This is a test

(make sure you add the http in beginning - I can't post URLs yet). You can replace "This is a test" with your own text and even insert a full URL back to your site).

5. Now, save your file as a PDF. You would have to use something like CutePDF for Word, so that links are active. OpenOffice would do it automatically.

Hope this helps! :-)
