IM Is Too Hard, Sometimes It's Easier To Just Give Up!
The Key To Your Success In IM is in one word...
...Persistence.
IM can be a hard road to travel. I should know, I've been at this since 1998 and it has not always been a smooth road.
Some get lucky and strike it rich or start making profits their first week.
Others struggle, fail, struggle, fail, and the vicious cycle never seems to end.
Well, I was listening to my radio mentor this morning and he struck a nerve.
Sometimes it IS just easier to give up!
But... imagine you were determined to get 10,000 pebbles from a huge solid rock. Due the laws of physics (but unknown to you at the time), you would simply have to hit that rock at a consistent rate of force 10,000 times to crack the rock and break it into the 10,000 tiny pebbles you want.
You've been hitting away at this rock for 3 years and have managed to hit it 9,000 times. But one day, you just get fed up (maybe family and friends have been on your case to give it up, look for something more productive), I mean you've been at this for years now and still the rock seems so sturdy, doesn't even look like it will crack much less break into the 10,000 pieces you want to gather.
So, you re-evaluate your position on the issue and decide it is better to MOVE ON. And you do, you sell your equipment AND that stupid sturdy rock to a friend (cheap just to get rid of it), change locations and start a new life.
Things are now looking up for you, though you're not living your dream, you're comfortable where you are now. And then you meet your friend from years ago, the one who bought your equipment and the rock that just wouldn't crack, you're sure he's going to tell you just how hard he's been working and still the stupid rock won't even crack, but instead he says to you...
"Hey mate, you won't believe what happened after you left! I discovered all I had to do was hit the rock (at the pace you mentioned you were doing it), exactly 1,000 times more to break it up into 10,000 pebbles. Since you told me you had hit it 9,000 times before selling it to me, I figured I'd try it again with another similar rock, 10,000 times was the charm and now I've even got it down so good, I just hire folks to pound those rocks for me, 10,000 times each time and I have so many pebbles it's hard to keep score!"
Then he adds... "Sadly, there are no more rock types like that available at the price you got them back then, now if you want one of them you have get in line and PAY 10,000 pebbles to the rock masters to get 2 solid rocks of your own"... And as if that wasn't bad enough he adds this...
"I now even travel all over teaching folks just how to crack those rocks, I'm a star of sorts and I earn great doing it, it's fun too, I meet lots of new folks and see tons of new places... just the kind of life you and I always dreamed of!"
Finally, he says...
"Hey if you want in so bad, I can probably sell you one of my surplus rocks for just 8,000 pebbles, I wish I could go lower, but it just won't be profitable for me to do that" ... You're of course excited by all you've heard, but...
Of course you can't afford 8,000 pebbles! You never did finish breaking that first rock in the first place and now, though you're comfortable (but not yet living your dream), you're still worth less than 4,000 pebbles all together.
You'll have to walk away again and this time, you really have NO choice.
...OK. Sorry about the extensive rock and pebbles metaphors, but my point is this...
How would hearing/experiencing all that make you feel? And do you still think it's much easier to just give up?
The choice is yours to make.
My advice is...
Enjoy the IM journey however hard it may seem.
Persistence is the key.
For your sake I hope you use it!
