Many people subscibing but not confirming?

A quick solution is to set-up a new list within AWeber
and set it up as single opt-in rather than confirmed
opt-in.

For paid traffic like PPC, solo ads, etc, single opt-in
may be a better option to make your lead generation
economically viable.

However, if you're still committed to using a confirmed
opt-in process, then make sure that you have a highly
desirable opt-in gift that people feel that they MUST
have.

Given your very low confirmation rates, your current
free ebook may just not be desirable enough. Create a
more enticing offer.

Why are people suggesting sending out a separate email reminding people to confirm? For many reasons that's the wrong answer, here, and would (for obvious reasons) be a good way to lose your Aweber account, if you tried it!

if your using solo ads then you should without a doubt be using single opt in and using a OTO and an upsell if you have one

using double opt in will not make your sales funnel flow and you will lose a lot of sales

some people won`t ever subscribe anyway, it doesnt matter how much you tell them to confirm, its just one of those things, its part of list building

you just have to make sure that you keep your emails content rich and engaging so that your subscribers continue to open your emails

You should follow the single-opt in. If your offer does not seems important to them, they will certainly not make confirmation. So, try to focus on the offer more. Those who has not yet confirmed, give them reminder gently in a way so that they don't feel it irritating.

Have you looked at the ones that aren't confirming to see if they even look like a real address? A lot of people will enter fake addresses to see if they can get to your stuff without getting on your mailing list.

Thanks for all the help. I can't send a double opt-in reminder as it is against aweber's rules.

I have changed it to single opt-in, and I will see how it goes. Hopefully I can still get REAL email addresses, and maybe some oto sales.

Also check for spam bots, these could make up a chunk of the non-confirmed subscribers. I have a couple of forums that get hit by loads of automated spambots, trying for an easy link drop.

If they're not confirming, that should be telling you something.

I'm very selective on what lands in my inbox. If whatever I signed up for is something I *really* want, I would immediately confirm the sign-up. If you only had 20 out of 70 confirming, to quote the famous line: "he's just not that into you".

Take the hint and improve your offer...make it irresistible.

Add a reminder on the confirmation page, also add links to popular email sites like Gmail and Yahoo mail so they can go and subscribe to your newsletter immediately. Adding the email site links can improve your confirmation rate.

I think Jeanne above had it right when she said that it sounds like your offer isn't that compelling.

Anyone can set up a page and would get subscribers just from the impulsive people alone. The key to conversions all of the way down the line is to have highly targeted traffic.

Matching the right offer to the right audience at the right time is secret to higher conversions.

A response of 20 out of 70 is not really that low. And as far as history goes for advertising methods, that's actually quite normal.

Just to be general about the issue, just make your offer more attractive to your targeted people. Remember, advertising (or in this case, making offers) is not full proof and sometimes things just do not work out-it's normal. So just continue to improve you'll eventually get higher figures (but it will still usually go below 50%).

Send another reminder email and ask them to confirm be sure to describe your product a little attractively so that people think it is necessary to confirm the email address...

3 things come to mind:

1. On Solo ads - confirmed opt-in off! If not, then...
2. Absolutely make sure that people check their spam/junk. if so...
3. From your Aweber account, manually add them to you list with a message that perhaps they failed to 'confirm'...would they mind confirming...it does work!

Compare this revenue to new revenue of people that you've added by spending the same amount of money without double opt-in.
