How Many Facebook Accounts Do You Have

I have been reading with amusement "major headlines" that Facebook has 83 million false accounts. These are either duplicates, fakes, accounts for pets, spam and malicious accounts. Approaching 10% of all of Facebook's account total.

The impact is another drop in stock price (glad I didn't buy).

Over the years I have seen this over and over:

- New marketing opportunity comes along.
- Marketers create a lot of accounts. Why?
- Service eventually begins to hate affiliate marketers and issues bans.
- Multiple accounts are needed in case one is banned and you do not want all of your work to disappear.

How many accounts do you have?

I suspect Facebook is still significantly over-reporting its actual user base.

    I only have one Facebook account and don't come across obviously fake accounts very often. In playing various Facebook games, I have found some players using a fake account, presumably to preserve anonymity.

    Even though I haven't personally seen anything near 1 out of 10 fake accounts, I do see people offering deals such as100 "likes" for $5 on fiverr. That almost certainly means that they have 100 fake accounts under their control. For that reason, I would not be surprised if the 10% figure was actually low.

    I have 2. One is personal and the other started out for business use when I was freelancing but now I use both of them for personal use... It becomes a headache sometimes but oh well.

      lol carl i'm with you on the downsizing.

      I have 3 accounts personal, business, and business under a pen name.
      Most people that I know have at least 2 accounts

      sidenote; lolol I always get a kick out of fb and the nonsense people believe.
      if you believe any of it you probably need to work on your critical thinking skills or go back and get your ged, oops a college degree is what a ged used to be.

      An easy way out is to believe less of what you hear people saying, and more of what you see for yourself. If there's 6 Billion people in the world and fb has close to 1 Billion users, then wouldn't most if not all of your friends, family, neighbors have facebook?

      If some kid created fb in his dorm room lolol, what server was he using? I mean shucks anyone who has ran a social site (shoot even if you run wordpress with some subscribers you would start to see the problems) would know that if you're going to run chat you better have some powerful equipment, otherwise the site will crash even with less than 100 users. The only way I could even see someone doing that would be if they went back to machine, assembler, eric, j type languages and even then. Looking at the way fb is setup I don't see a mind that is capable of that. If someone asked me today as ceo and keep it free, I would have to pass there's no way out of that mess, except to start charging.

    I only have one - but I would be careful about multiple accounts. Multiple accounts are clearly against Facebook TOS. In fact I remember reading a while ago, that some people had their accounts shut down because of multiple accounts

    I have been reading more than a few articles and news items with negative stories about Facebook. From the recent story about one start-up that believes 80% of the clicks on their Facebook ad were from bots to the public letter today from a different start-up owner telling the world that Facebook wanted to buy out his app, to the downward spiral of the company's stock, Zuckerberg is taking a beating.

    The time could be right for a contender of Facebook to rise up and steal their limelight. After all, it's happened before. Remember when Netscape or Digg were big?

    Yes,really you are absolutely correct that facebook banning 83 million fake account users very soon.I would love to use facebook always and now i have only one account and so many fb pages and groups. Marketers created lot of accounts because of publishing their adds.

    Why to make multiple accounts , just for traffic, if you have multiple businesses, use FB pages for that !!!

    There are permissions that if we have an account & business pages, then no one can see the owner of the page, so we are in good faith

    I simply make pages for my business, thats enough for my usage !!!

      lol I think it's way worst than 10 percent. I think it's so bad that fb probably wouldn't want to get rid of duplicate or fake account's because their stock really wouldn't look good then.
