Having problems getting my blog indexed by Google

I am trying to get my site indexed into Google and for the life of me don't understand what the deal is here.

I've heard that if you ever manually submit your address to Google it takes weeks to get indexed so from what I've read it's better to submit to sites that are already getting crawled daily to get in faster.

Okay here's the deal...

I wrote an article on the blog with GoArticles.com and the article was indexed into Google with my blog address however my site itself still doesn't appear in Google.

I even tried to submit an answer in Yahoo answers and the same thing occured. The actual yahoo answer post was indexed into Google but not my blog.

Any ideas on what I might be missing to get my site into the Google database?

Thanks

If its a Wordpress site, get the Google XML Sitemaps plugin. It'll submit for you.

You heard right about submitting the site to Google. Don't do it.

Submitting an article to goarticles.com should get you indexed within a week or two.

Another quick way that can get you indexed in less than a week is to Digg your site, then PING the Digg page. Usually works fast.

Yeah, that plugin is the shiznit and so is the ALL IN ONE SEO Plugin.

In the last few weeks I registered 2 domain names and created wordpress blogs with those 2 plugins and I ranked on first page for their respective competitive keywords
    in 2 days.

    Pretty Crazy.

And I BARELY know what I'm doing with blogs.

I'm pretty good at domain name selection though.

Always try to keep the keyword phrase you want to rank the highest for in your domain name.

Hey Here is what you can do:

Put a link to your site in your signature
      Submit your website to digg.com
ping your digg and then ping your website with pingomatic & pingoat
Use only wire to bookmark your website as well as your digg.

I do that with my domain names and get them indexed within 24 hours without even submitting articles.

Hope that info will help you.

What is the content like on your blog? I've found that blogs that have unique content on get indexed quickly - I've had one picked up by Google in under 2 hours before!

Is your blog self hosted or on another site? That might help.

If you type in your blog name in Google, I take it you don't get any results except the places you submitted articles to?

    Cheers

Another Idea is to add your blog to my favorites at technorati and the ping from there , also burn your feed with feedburner and set to auto ping!
