Can I be successful in Affiliate Marketing even if I'm not in US/UK/ Europe?

Hi, I have a part-time office job and I work as a freelance writer in odesk. On good months, I earn $500 in a month while working 10-15 hours per week. It's not a lot but it is nearly twice the minimum wage here so I can't complain.

I have written lots of product reviews for my clients there- from car baby seats, electronic guitars, ebooks to cloud computing saas, rice cookers, and online casinos. I also have read lots of internet marketing books and resources. I can say that I fairly am knowledgeable in internet marketing. However, I lack experience in applying these theories and strategies I have learned.

In my two years, I noticed that I earn when I work a lot. I'm planning on gradually creating a passive means of income. I know internet marketing requires work too but I think it's more exciting than reviewing products you're not interested with. This week I've written 15 sets of rice cooker reviews. I didn't even know that people treat buying rice cookers seriously.

I have been thinking of starting a few niche affiliate sites myself. I only have around $500 for web design, logo, etc. My main concern is that my location can be a problem. Most affiliate programs I have come across accepts leads from US, UK or Europe. Seeing that I'm in the Philippines, that doesn't look good. Even if the program accepts Asian leads, a lot of people here still don't have credit cards to pay for digital products.

If that is so, do you think I have a chance in affiliate marketing? I'd love to hear advice from some members here. If you're Asian and has considerable earnings in affiliate marketing, I'd love to hear some tips.

    Yes, certainly.

For most kinds of affiliate marketing online, one's location isn't really relevant at all (except in so far as it can affect receiving payments, but for most countries, including yours, that doesn't seem to be a great problem).

There are certainly many successful IMers in your part of the world - some of them members here. Maybe you'll hear from some of them, as the thread progresses.

Your English appears perfect and fluent, too, which obviously doesn't hurt.

(I happen to live in England, but that isn't relevant to my sites, the products I promote as an affiliate, my visitors, my vendors/merchants, my subscribers, or anyone else, really. I make a full-time living through affiliate marketing, and I don't think I do anything that I couldn't do exactly the same way in Manila. So I don't think of my location as being relevant to my income at all. And I often don't even know my subscribers'/customers' locations.)

I am also a freelancer at odesk, just like you. But within 2 months, I have my own company. I use affiliate marketing and it begins to show results... So, what you need really is great desire to do all things...

Affiliate Marketing is a truly worldwide venture, you should have no problems.

I think it is a good idea that you are ambitious enough to want to move past the grind that is low paid article writing. Do not get me wrong you will still have to write, but the type of content you are required write whilst building a successful affiliate marketing business is actually a fun and very creative process.

    Good luck

As long as you can receive either paypal, check, or bank wire, no problem.

I have come across a number of Filipinos living in the Philippines who are making good income online. Some of them started out as freelance writers but they later moved on to start their own internet virtual real estates.

You don't really need to spend money on web design and logo. You can just start with a Wordpress blog and find a relevant Wordpress Theme for your site.

    Kumusta, anong Balita?

We are from Davao Philippines, we prefer to be paid through PayPal.com or Xoom.com.
Use EON from UNION Bank to Transfer your Paypal money and for Xoom you can

Looks like you already got plenty of encouragement!
Since you can write your own pre-sell articles and place them all over the place, and build your own list, you're in fine shape!

      Good luck!

    Jazzy,

Yes, you can succeed in affiliate marketing as long as you do the best practices that affiliate marketers do. I am not going to list those practices one by one because you can see those in this forum if you spend a good amount of time digging for information. Success is not a matter of country of origin. It's a matter of what you do and how you do it.

You can definitely be anything you want as long as you want to do it. I'm from Indonesia and there are many success internet marketers come from here and also I know a couple success internet marketers from Philippines. It doesn't matter where do you come from, you can be anything. All you need is just to be focus. And like others said, as long as you can receive the payment and can connect to the internet you can be success in affiliate marketing field. Good luck.
