Clickbank Gravity Question

Hi, I just launched a stock market product in Clickbank this week and had 1 sale so far by putting a banner on one of my other sites.

I have a question about the Clickbank Gravity in the MarketPlace. I want to attract more affiliates to promote my products, and I know that the more sales made by affiliates, the Gravity number will go up. Will this Gravity number go up if I sell the product myself without any affiliate link?

I have two Clickbank accounts, is that better to promote the product using my other Clickbank Account so that I can make the Gravity higher?

Low gravity can be a good thing but so is having a little bit of a track record. Some marketers look for items with low gravity because they know that the competition is extremely low too.

Products you sell directly without an affiliate link will not affect your gravity scoring.

The more the number of sales made by different affiliates, the more the gravity figure will increase, yes.

If you have 5 affiliates only, and they each sell 10,000 copies, the gravity figure can't be higher than 5.

If you have 100 affiliates who each sell one copy, the gravity figure can in theory reach 100 (if they all sell their copy at the same time!).

Gravity measures the number of affiliates (who make a sale), not the number of sales.

      No.

But if you want your product's gravity figure to increase, there's nothing to stop you from "becoming your own affiliate" and selling it that way. (And you can even do that multiple times, using different accounts which are free to open, if you really want to, but appreciate that each new account will have to comply with the Customer Distribution Requirement and the 2 Checks Rule!).

Be aware that high and/or rising gravity figures are likely to attract some of the 90% of ClickBank affiliates who collectively make fewer than 10% of the affiliate-referred sales. They can sometimes put off the other very small proportion of serious, professional affiliates who bring in 90%+ of the sales.

If I were a vendor, I certainly wouldn't be assuming that raising my product's gravity figure was necessarily a good thing to do. "Just saying".

Not so much: the maximum you can ever add to the gravity figure with one additional affiliate account is 1 point, regardless of the number of sales you make through that account.

These two posts/threads may interest you (but perhaps not, admittedly, if you've already irrevocably made up your mind about this issue) ...

No, your gravity will not increase if you sell it yourself without the affiliate link. Gravity increases when unique affiliates have generated sales with your product. Meaning if 1 affiliate sells 1000 copies of your product, your gravity will be way lower than 1000 affiliates making 1 sale each.

About the two Clickbank accounts, yes, that will lead to higher gravity than selling from a single account, but not my much at all.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Edit: Definition from CB - "Grav: Short for GRAVITY™ performance statistic, this number represents a unique calculation by ClickBank that takes into account the number of different affiliates who earned a commission by promoting this product over the past 12 weeks."

Thanks a lot guys. I guess there isn't much benefit to promote using my other Clickbank account then. I will just sell it directly on my own and try to go out and recruit affiliates.

high gravity means there is a lot of competition
i usually do not pick a product if the number is over 200 or so
i never go into niches like Forex for instance
they are such a waste of time
