Amazon Affiliates - Dates on Posts/Reviews?

Hi Warriors,

I've been wondering, do most Amazon Affiliates show dates on their posts/reviews of products?

In your opinion could showing a date affect the age of your site negatively in terms of visitors and potential buyers? In terms of in the future when a post/review might seem outdated?

I also wanted to ask, what permalink structure do most Amazon Affiliates use?

Thanks

Oscar, typically I never show dates on any of my sites. This is even true on my blog. As you suggest there can be issues with people feeling the review is old and stale if it is several years old. Not that the product my have changed though.

I will however write posts like: Top 10 bestselling [product] August 2012

As for the permalink I simply use the /%postname%/ setting, then always ensure my keywords are within my post title and meta tags.

      Hi Chris,

Thank you for your input. Writing a summary of the best selling products is a good idea, especially if someone is simply browsing then they might be able to find something that they fancy.

I don't use dates either for the same reason. I also use this permalink structure.

Good tip on the bestsellers for a particular month. This type of post lends more to a feeling of "keeping track" or "statistics" to a reader than "old information" in my opinion even though there is a date associated with the post.

I'm just starting with Amazon Reviews/Sites, so Chris's post is helpful. Thanks, Chris!

That way, I'll be able to get started the right way.

BTW, how do you get rid of the dates on WP blogs?

I've hacked it a bit by setting the date to custom and then leaving the date blank, but that results in "posted on by Name"

        Any better solutions?

        Thanks!
